Oticon Intent 2, Genie 2 2026.1 How to edit "Name of the instruments for pairing"

I can’t find a way to edit the field “Name of instruments for pairing” that appears on the Finish tab under the subtab “Summary.”

My audi obviously had to enter it at some point, and she mis-spelled my name.

My Client name is correct in the Genie software database on my computer.

Example: Client Name is John Doe in Genie2. On the summary page, the “Name of…” field was entered as, and displays as “Johhhn’s hearing aids”

Seems like it shouldn’t be a setting that is hidden away somewhere. I have tried renaming in my phone’s bluetooth settings. The name changes in the phone but not in Genie 2.

I have tried unpairing and re-pairing the phone. No luck.

I realize this isn’t an emergency. But I would be extremely grateful if anyone can help me figure this out, because it is bugging the crap out of me. :grin:

Have you made 2 clients up and saved your original audiology settings, if so you’ll be safe to start a new fit to see how this is done, yeah should be dead easy and certainly not “hidden away type menu” change the client name it seems.

The “Name of instruments for pairing” field is read-only in the Oticon Genie 2 software and cannot be manually typed or edited. It populates automatically based on the Client Name entered when the client file was first created.

I am trying to change the name of my Oticon Intent aids in my phone. The only place I can find in Genie is the “Instrument Name” field, however it is not editable. Any ideas how to change it? [image]

Yes I did create a separate profile to save the original settings. Thank you for asking.

I looked at the post you linked before I posted. It didn’t seem to address the exact issue I am having.

Ahhhh… so you are saying that my audi may have named my profile the name the seem to want to keep? Interesting. If you are interested/willing to dive into this a bit, I’d really enjoy and appreciate your thoughts.

  1. Wouldn’t it be odd for an audi at Kaiser to name my profile “Mis-spelled’s hearing aids” rather than use my full name, med record number or some more specific title? Although now that I think about it: Maybe Genie just pulls the (mis-spelled) first name out of the information in the profile and adds “ ‘s hearing aids” to it and assigns that to the instruments… hmm.
  2. If some version of that is how it works, what would be the logic of not allowing one to change the “instruments name for pairing” field after the initial session? For such sophisticated devices, it should be simple to rename them. Could Oticon have just not considered it as an option?
  3. What if someone sells their used hearing aids to another person and the new owners “need” the name changed? Or is that not a thing?
  4. Is there a more powerful piece of software up the food chain that my audi could have used that does allow this change? Or an earlier version?
  5. I was tempted to call Oticon Tech Support because of how incredibly friendly and helpful they were (a rarity now) in solving a bug earlier. I mean seriously wonderful support. Then I realized they probably wouldn’t help an enduser with software not intended for them….

Anyway, thank you for your thoughts and discussion. I’m still hopeful it is solvable, just located in an obscure corner of the software or dependent on a hidden set of keystrokes, which software sometimes contains…
