My personal test report of the top models of Signia, Phonak (without Sphere), Widex and GN Resound:
Signia sounds aggressively sharp and you don’t get the payoff of better understanding. Switching into the mode of speech enhancement creates a very nervous surrounding. Own voice can be adjusted, but sounds artificial. All the modifications did not make all of that better. However, best shape, smallest charger. Has up and down buttons which is very useful. Lines very thin and decent. Only available as rechargeable.
Widex is very nice in calm situations. Own voice sounds artificial. Relatively big with big lines. Big charger. Prepared for future firmware updates. Just one button on each side. Only available as rechargeable. Adjustment is made in the Widex cloud – therefore no choice for me. Am I right that there is no way to making self-adjustment at Widex Allure?
Phonak is also available without Sphere which is reported to drain the battery – I had that. Incredibly big, making problems to get it with glasses behind the ear. Sounds good – I am used to the previous Paradise. But has no significant advantages. Some situations are better, some worse. The big housing results in strong contact noises by movements and hairs. Has up and down buttons which is very useful. Only available as rechargeable.
GN Resound is very nice in calm situations. Own voice sounds normal. Housing bigger than Signia, but still small. Incredibly big charger with low capacity. Just one button on each side. Very useful App that allows you many adjustments with just one tip. I always found an adjustment to either be calm or to enhance speech to being fairly comprehensible. However, you have to be prepared to always using the App for best results. And all the programs need to be made available there. One program with artificial intelligence – I did not find a real advantage. Not to believe: there is no sound indication of the middle position of volume, so after modifying the volume with the buttons you have problems to go back to normal. I have double checked that there is no option to change that by adjustment. Also the App has only a imprecise indication and -most precise- numbers, but you need to know that 7 is the middle. Available as rechargeable and with batteries. At the moment my choice. However, did not test Bernafone.
Self adjustment is very important to me. I always have the audiologist making the first setup, which is in many cases only the automatic first fist based on the thorough measurements. All my step by step modifications are based on this. For Phonak I made 25 steps – no audiologist will do that torture. And with appointments it will need half a year - for just one model.
Can anyone provide me with Oasis for adjusting Bernafone?
