Anyone know a company in Yorkshire that does hearing aid repairs, specifically Analog Phonak

So yeah don’t judge me, I am still using Analog hearing aids, especially Phonak, what can I say, they work perfect for me and I’ve tried digital but no success for me. But anyway I was wondering if anyone knows of any hearing aid repair company’s in north England, someone did recommend a company that sounds amazing, but they are too far down south in Berkshire, I simply can not just sent my hearing aid in the post as I wear them all day and everyday as I can’t hear without them. Thanks

I have my own hearing repairman but he is in U.S.A. He repairs and reconditions all my analog Phonak. I own 5 analog Phonak, 4 of which are pp cL4 and I love them because I can adjust the sound, unlike with digital ones. Digital is not that good for the range of sound, especially for high pitches. I own 3 digital ones, including a Phonak brand I bought last year to see if it is any good but it does not live up to par like analog.

The ones I have are Phonak Pico Forte (PP-C-L-P-2) left ear.
Then my right ear is Phonak Pico Forte (PP-C-P-2).

I completely understand what you mean, is the reconditioning ones the same then, the company I’ve emailed did offer this service of giving me reconditioning hearings aids if I just tell them what settings I have mine on, as well as repairs. I would love to find my own repairman who knows what they are doing and how to fix old analogs.

These are popular brands, analog Phonak PP C-L-4 and still are today. You can even get it custom-made by most repairmen. They use a lot of good parts and put it together to make it new, like classic old cars. That is why I have four for just the left ear. I have a small analog Phonak but powerful, it carries 13 size battery. I have two Unitron US80 PP and it has the same power as Phonak PP C-L-4. You can ask any hearing repairman to make one if they have the parts.

It is no different than it once was brand new. And it does need recondition or clean thoroughly every 5 to 10 years depend on the humidity. To me, these digital are a gimmick, especially the recharge ones. It never pleases me and with analog I can adjusted myself carefully to my desire after audiologist makes the adjustment, especially to high pitches for playing my music with guitar and piano.

Yeah that’s the problem I have, I’m trying to find one locally to me, I’ve emailed a lot of places and they don’t touch analogs, which is annoying.

My Phonaks are the small ones that carry size 13 battery too, they fit my little ears haha, I’ve had hearing said for 30 years now since I was 6 years old. So you can imagine how stubborn and way in my ways I am now and wanting to stick with these Phonak analog, I do feel reassured though that you seem to have the reconditioned and cleaned and still works for you, so I just need to keep trying to find someone to do the same for me, I would even like some more hearing aids the same too, so I’ve always got back ups, they do last a long time if you take really good care of them for sure. But yeah the clarity in the sounds is so much better, the digitals cut out too much noise and I don’t like it, I feel like I’m drowning if that makes sense.

I have two Unitron US80 PP that I can give up. I have a brochure on these if you want to read it. I have one analog Octicon 380p but it is not as powerful and lacks distance noise for clarity unless you are in a quiet environment. I like to have a powerful one, so I can tone it down by adjusting it myself. Here is the brochure on Unitron.

I couldn’t possibly ask you to give up two of your hearing aids….thats really kind. Plus I’m reading the brochure and I have no idea what any of it means haha, I’ve never really got to grips with the understanding of frequency etc, I’ve just always wanted one exactly like the hearing aid I have now and even that’s hard to describe to people what and how they work.

Haha I thought the same, I really ought to hoard some myself for back ups just in case of anything getting damaged

It started 23 years ago when I was traveling abroad (outside of the USA). My hearing aid broke down. Oh boy, I was furious. This is when I decided to collect a lot of hearing aids. I took chances on any brand, even some were just for mild hearing loss but it was better than nothing. Back in 2005, I donated a large number of artworks to a hearing-speech school, and they gave me a reconditioned Phonak PP CL4, and I fell deeply in love with it. I made connections with many hearing repairmen after this for the other analog hearing aids I bought. By luck, I found one guy who had four Phonak PP CL4. I gave one to my sister and she was ecstatic since she tried all digital at several hearing stores, and she could not hear clearly at all. These are special reserves for my music listening device. I bought two generic digital aids online on eBay about 5 years ago. It is called Signal for moderate to severe hearing loss, they are roughly around 89.00 to 120.00 dollars. It is okay for outings and a careless environment, but not for speech and sound clarity. For some collectors, they collect classic old cars. I, myself, collect classic old hearing aids.

Oh how cool is that, I totally understand your story, I go into a literal panic over my hearing aid and everyone makes me nervous and more anxious when they say how ancient my hearing aids are and won’t last forever, but I will not wear anything else, I need to try harder to find some more Pico Forte like you have and have them repaired and reconditioned.

When I’ve travelled I’ve always carried my digitals with me incase, I mean I wouldn’t be happy as I can’t stand digitals, everyone sounds like robots and I hate when my audiology says that I will get used to the sounds…we shouldn’t have to, this is where audiology people have no way to sympathise because they don’t have hearing loss.

From reading on here i don’t think you will find a repair shop in Yorkshire.
Previous posters were recommended postal services like Mary Hare , you could check if they have an express service.

Yeah I messaged them and they do seem very knowledgeable and know what I’m talking about when I tell them my issue with my hearing aid. My only issue is they can receive it via postal service, but I can’t go through my day without my hearing aid, especially when I’m working, I need them 24/7, so it’s tricky to get them sent in the post and be without my hearing aid for however long it takes to fix.

To be fair they did try to get it as close as my analog and even had my analog connected to a machine to try get the digital to replicate, and it still wasn’t exact or anywhere near, so that didn’t work unfortunately.

Hi Chris, I forgot to ask you a few questions, do you find all the analogs you have all sound the same, obviously I’ve told you I use the Phonak Pico Forte PP-C-L-P-2.

Do you know which would sound the closest to this one, or are they all similar sounds, I only ask because I have literally only ever worn these, so I’m not experienced with other hearing aids. Hope this make sense, thanks
