Rewind the tape!

The problem I had before wearing , and to a lessor extent still have, is listening to someone speak, hearing them, but then having to rewind the tape in your head so to speak in order to comprehend them. I’m curious if this is “a thing”?

This sounds like auditory processing (disorder) to me. I’m going mostly by my personal experience, though, not professional knowledge, although when I was teaching, I did have students with this condition.

I do much better at keeping up with a conversation if there is a visual component like the “live transcribe” app, or if I take notes.

I had not heard of it. Just looked it up, Wikipedia states adults can develop it with causes listed as old age and a history of childhood ear infections. I am 78 and did have frequent ear infections in childhood and beyond. I first started noticing the symptoms about 10 years ago. So now, every once and a while, I roll the tape. Thanks again.
