Wearing hearing aids and glasses

Like my hearing, my vision has declined as well! Oh joy! For awhile I was able to put my astigmatism on the back burner but now I need my glasses when I drive because I can’t see very far without them. Only issue is my hearing aids make it impossible to wear them. They don’t buzz or have feedback, just constantly slip off my ears (the actual hearing aid part, not the mould). It’s really not much of an issue at the end of the day, more like an annoyance than an actual issue preventing me from wearing glasses. I cannot go without my hearing aids, but really only need my glasses for driving. Though my glasses have helped lots.

Does anyone who wears glasses alongside their aids also have this issue? If so, did you ever find a solution that worked?

I used to wear glasses with my hearing aids but wore my glasses all day. Since cataract surgery I wear readers now and take them off and on all day. I found that glasses with arms that go straight back rather than wrap around my ears has helped me

I still wear glasses after cataract removal procedures, I have astigmatism and need reading glasses. And my eyes are very sensitive to bright light. I have worn glasses for 70 years and hearing aids for 21 years. I have custom ear molds and have no issues with my aids slipping.
By the way I can go without my glasses while driving something that seems so strange to me.

I put the glasses arms OVER the aid, the wire that come from the aid to the custom ear mold, the glasses arms are the thin type so they take less space, this prevents the aids from falling out as the arms keep them against my head, I’ve been doing this for as long as I have had type aids. Wearing aids since 2005.

Exactly the same for me, never in my life had any trouble wearing both glasses (inside position) and . But I suspect this depends on an individual’s ear shape. Having ears that extend a bit from one’s skull (see illustration) may help.

I wear both glasses and behind the ear aids, the glasses are wire frames with plastic ends on the temples. I removed the plastic extensions from the wire temples and replaced them with silicone ends from Amazon. This stops the slipping and noise from the plastic ends contacting the aids

+1 to silicone or some other pliable material touching the hearing aids.

I wear my glasses so that the arms are next to my head. The aids go between my ears and the arms of the glasses. I’ve not had any trouble losing my hearing aids. Now, if you ask about a mask, that’d be a different answer. Then they pop off really easily. Luckily the domes hold on enough to stay in my ears. The right combination probably varies for different people.

Yes- glasses, plus masks are catastrophic. Hopefully no new respiratory pandemic soon.

I look at things differently. I see a challenge. I wear glasses and hearing aids. I wear cocoons, over the glasses glasses, sunglasses and or night vision glasses. I have worn the stupid mask, yes I believe the mask were a joke or just a test in submission, to see how people would handle total control. I refused to wear the mask and even walked out on mandatory appointments. I never got covid and I took care of several that had it. Yes I believe in vaccinations and keep mine updated.
A challenge can be fun if you have the proper mindset or a challenge can be hell if you don’t have the proper mindset. And yes some individuals don’t gave the needed space behind their ears.

Need to see your audiologist and get longer wire leads to the molds to set the outer piece a little further back in your ear.

I wear “react to light varifocal glasses” and rather large “Naida Lumity 90 ’s”, I get the Optician to “Heat Crimp” the ends of the glasses, you will see from the image, the “Heat Crimp” is ribbed, this grips onto my head, helping to stop the glasses from creeping forward… I have no problem whatsoever wearing both Hearing Aids & Glasses, as I have plenty of “Real Estate” in the ears department :rofl: Cheers Kev :wink:

I do Rick… I did have a custom made set, specifically for Pool, but the prescription is out of date for those glasses, and these work fine on the pool table! Cheers Kev :wink:
