Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to this but please see the Phonak Audéo Infinio Ultra & the Sennheiser Sonite Rise Product Information sheets for comparison.
I’ve never been to Sams Club, but from what I’ve heard, I’d avoid it. I used private audiologists for several years (expensive!!) because I didn’t have the choice of Costco (too far away). But now that I live closer to a Costco (for 10 years), I’ve greatly enjoyed and benefited from using their services and ! They do a great job. Human beings differ, and finding a tech you LIKE personally is the luck of the draw, but in my experience they are well trained and up to their jobs. Certainly the price is right, and the choice of products is excellent. Good luck!!
The Rexton Reach + is different @ Costco. Like with all Costco hearing aids, the hardware is the same but certain features are disabled. With the Rexton’s, the one feature that I need is Bluetooth Classic. The Costco version is still using Bluetooth Low Energy. Even my $300. hearing aids have Bluetooth Classic. Bluetooth Low Energy has been discontinued by every major manufacturer for good reason. It’s junk.
The original was developed exclusively for hearing aids. What you are referring to is the latest iteration of Bluetooth. There were technical reasons that earlier hearing aids needed a separate Bluetooth connectivity, mostly due to lack of power. That is no longer the case.
I contacted the Costco audiologist to inquire why they were using the previous generation of hearing aid Bluetooth in the Rexton’s and he forwarded the question to corporate. They verified that Bluetooth classic was one of the features that the Costco would not be offering with the Reach+. The Rexton website continues to state that the + has Bluetooth classic.

is for low power use, that’s why they call it low energy! it was designed for low power use, for using with your App not for direct streaming, which AHSA and were, so before this we had to use accessories, which all used classic and worked well for the intended use, LEA is low energy and latency which classic could never hope to compete with, only Sonova and Signia (Rexton) are bothering with it for now, but it’s dead in the water for and has no hope for the future.
Now this Rexton Reach R Plus from Costco is gonna have its own chip, just for Costco? no I believe your confused which models your talking about, as there’s two models.
It doesn’t need a different chip. The Rexton Reach used the same chip in the Costco version. Go to your local Costco & put the Reach on your phone. It will give you LE in your settings. Costco corporate verified it.
Yeah well I just think there’s some confusion on the exact models we’re talking about, but regardless if it’s classic you want Costco do have the Sennheiser which are rebranded Phonak models.
Bluetooth Low Energy has been discontinued by every major manufacturer for good reason
With all due respect , this is probably the most absurd comment I’ve read in this forum
Excluding classic :
(1) All Apple products (MFI) move the entire audio stack over BT LE for .
(2) BTLE Audio moves the entire audio stack over to Bluetooth LE for HAs
(3) moves the audio stack over BTLE for HAs.
If your aids "never really did much" they must have not been well adjusted or you weren't using them correctly. Hearing aids are a huge help unless you really don't need them. Go with the new advice and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by hearing MUCH better! GL!
Time to replace my very old Phonak aids that never really did much anyway
First, figure out why they "didn't really do much anyway" because if you want to be successful this time around you need to know what went wrong last time so you don't repeat the same mistakes. Were your current aids poorly programmed or did you not use them because you didn't like the way they sounded or both?
Each manufacturer has their own specific sound signature and if it doesn't suit you, you'll be discouraged from using them all the time. Most people don't have strong preferences but up to 40% do. It's therefore not surprising that up to 40% of hearing aids end up in drawers and I don't think all of it can be explained by poor programming.
