Well, the left one was fine after I got the wax cleaned out and got them adjusted.
And then a few days ago the left one again wasn’t charging. But I could hear out of it, and after futzing with it a few times, it started charging again. So maybe the wire is a bit lose in the receiver? Anyway, now it’s working again.
Plus, on Monday I go back to have my third set of molds done, still trying to get them right. (See my new post about that). Never a dull moment in the saga!
@philbob57 Well, I spoke too soon. The left ear aid is not charging again—arghh! Well, I see the fitter on Monday am, however, unless it is something she can fix (I hope!), I will be without an aid for 2 weeks. Unless they get 1 in by then, which they didn’t have before. Yeesh.
I am not a happy camper about this: my left is completely dead and will not charge again (as of Saturday).
When I was last in to see one of my fitters, she was able to fix it by cleaning out wax that I couldn’t see. But this is just a week and a half afterwards. I doubt that is the cause this time. I don’t even make a lot of wax, some, of course, but not that much.
Then, I was told (before I came in) that they didn’t have any loaners available. I really hope that either she can fix it, or that they do have loaners.
I made an appointment for 2 weeks after tomorrow’s appointment to pick up the new molds, and now, if I need a new left HA—I hope!! She is extraordinarily booked up, and now we are in summer vacation time, also.
Only having 1 aid is tough. I really see why most of you guys have older aids as backups.
I think the problem is that the tubing is loose or something like that. It feels like the connection isn’t right,
Today when I went into my appointment with my fitter, I told her that my left had died again and wouldn’t charge. When she tested it, she said that it was on. But I said that it wouldn’t charge, and the battery was testing low.
So, as I thought would happen, she is sending it back to be replaced. And, no, they have no loaners, so I have only one aid for 2 weeks.
But I am happy that I will get it replaced, and that I am getting new molds that I think will work this time.
It’s always a big trek to get to this Costco way out on the subway and a walk, and we have to fight through the mobs of people there, but I am not sure that I could get this much help with the molds with a private audiologist. Maybe yes, and maybe no, but it is taking a lot to figure out what will work, but my fitter doesn’t seem fazed by it. I think she has seen plenty of people with all kinds of issues to overcome.
As with any service oriented work, the practitioner has to be knowledgeable, dedicated, and willing to go the mile to successfully help people. I know, I was that practitioner myself for many decades in my Natural Health Care practice. I recognize that in my fitter.
but I am not sure that I could get this much help with the molds with a private audiologist.
Couple of things: If you purchased from the private audiologist, yes they would absolutely want you to be properly fitted. However, you might find that the private clinic will not want to take over your subsequent care as you didn’t initially purchase from them.
Also: ‘Costco’ ARE a private enterprise seeking to take a profit out of your situation, just because they do it in a wharehouse doesn’t alter the basic sales premise.
