Easy Open 312 hearing aid batteries

Hey everyone, as you probably know, hearing aid batteries have become much harder to open since Reece’s Law took effect.

I was able to source some batteries from a reputable supplier that still use the older, easier-to-remove card style, but packages them inside a pharmacy-style push-and-twist safety bottle.

They’re available now: 60 batteries for $19.

Just got a new set of Soundgear AMP hearing aids a few weeks ago from Costco. Previous set of Starkey worked fine for 16 years.

The box included a disc of batteries. I tried to remove the batteries, and shockingly discovered how to slice your fingers.

This is a great find. I’ll come back to it after exhausting my supply of 312 batteries from Costco and Sam’s Club.

Yes, I’m excited about these batteries. No one has ordered them yet, but I’m eager to hear from you all about the quality and lifetime. They have been vetted by our supplier Oaktree who supply audiologists, so I have every reason to believe the quality will be good.

This is an interesting solution. I’m surprised it’s compliant because one can store the batteries in the packs without the bottle which would defeat the purpose. This does not seem different than a secure box with old style packs inside. There must be lots of warning labeling. Even so, the larger brands probably don’t want even the potential for an issue.

This could possibly be developed further so there is a spiral design of some type and the batteries must remain in the bottle until dispensed.

Interesting thoughts. Yeah, maybe they could come up with something that you push and twist and it just spits out one battery with sticker removed.
