Static noise

That is usually caused by one of three things.

Too much gain. If it’s just on one side, the gain can be lowered in that aid only.

A poorly fitting dome.

Bad position on the aid itself–least likely but it happens when a receiver wire is too long.

It sounds like mild high frequency clipping to me. I suggest either the audiologist reduces the high frequency gain by a couple of dBs or maybe chooses a higher power receiver for that ear.

Thank you, yes I’ve tried this but it doesn’t get rid of it. If I drop the volume of the audio right down to ‘hearable but it’d be more comfortable if it was slightly louder’, I think the noise does stop.

Nor does that, or having a “bad position” not sure where your getting your information from? But I might be misunderstanding what your meaning.

Could you say more about the Expansion setting?

For context - and in case they could be related - aside from this annoying static, other things I’m hoping to get sorted at this appointment are around:

• Still having difficulty with lows, incl speech
• Occasional feedback in left ear if I up the bass (in app) or volume
• Whether I need to move from closed domes to power or moulds

Moulds would be a good choice, also you could get your Audiologist to fit a power receiver ( you don’t actually need it) just as an experiment to see if this reduces or eliminates the static.

Probably this (RHS @ 3KHz is only 20dB), the floor noise of most si-mics from Brownian motion is above this level.

Might be eliminated by choosing a LP/65dB receiver at least in the settings. The manufacturers settings ‘understand’ these are fitted to losses where people are most likely to hear the hiss.

Really that can be from too powerful receiver? I tended to think P is more adequate for OP than M. I am a bit confused. Perhaps faulty M receiver is a cause?

No, the other way: tell the software that it’s an LP or actually fit an LP to see if it rectifies the problem

It’s not only in streaming - it’s only when listening to recorded speech, be it through streaming or through the speakers of my phone or laptop.
