Types of molds available from Costco? Titanium Slimtips?

I’m about to call for an appointment to buy Sennheiser Sonite Rise aids from Costco

What options for molds will Costco provide? I asked someone there once in passing if they could do titanium slimtips and he said no, but that was off the cuff and I’m not sure I trust the answer as gospel.

Searching the web it seems that they may not even offer slimtips.

I’m currently in Phonak Marvels with acrylic slimtips

I’d really like to try titanium slimtips based on some of the regular posters here a while back. Acrylic is ok though…

I think my would probably suggest that domes would be ok, but I itched horribly with the domes I tried for the first few years and have very little interest in going back to that

No, Costco doesn’t provide titanium molds, just silicone and acrylic. I don’t know about slim tips, but somehow I doubt it. Someone else who knows more can chime in.

guess I should add a couple of side questions…. if @Blue_Pearl1 is correct, what is a good source for third party mold inserts

and

will costco do the mold for me and let me send it to someone else for manufacturing of a slimtip?

Advices before purchasing titanium cShells / titanium earmolds

There’s a Canadian company which makes titanium earmolds, but I can’t recall its name.

Costco does make slimtips - or orders them drom Phonak and in the US they are actually molded in the Aurora, IL Tech Facility. They made me a set for my KS9’s and again reordered as the fishline broke. They keep the mold data on database. Then, I needed a set for my then backup KS9’s again and my Lumity L fishline broke too - they use the dame receivers. So I asked Costco if I could get two pair - they did it. $40 per mold AND they come with new updated receiver wires. The old oned do not fit Sphere’s . So if you haveMarvel, Paradise, or Lumity they are the same as the current Costco Sennheiser and they can get you silicone xlim-tips. At least in Chicagoland. If you are shot down, try anothet store.

sounds like you’ve had a time with what you are calling the fishline. Assume that’s the little pull handle….

the acrylic ones my Audi ordered from Phonak years ago have given me no problems, except the little ‘wing’ that aligns it with my outer ear on one of the aids broke off when I dropped it. Wasn’t an especially hard hit but must have hit just right (or there had been a flaw in the mold)

Regardless I didn’t particaullary care for those things anyway (was given an option to add or delete them), but all these years I’ve had the one intact and the other one broken off.

Good to know that it’s the same as the current model Sennheiser aids. I really was expecting them to be different because I thought they used different receivers….

I’ve got no exposure or experience to silicone slimtips. Why would I want that over acrylic?

I haven’t noticed any sort of alergic reaction to the acrylic, but I would say that comfort and itch reduction isn’t perfect. I also feel like my molds could probably be a little deeper than they are….

I believe Costco gets the molds from the vendor of the you choose - ReSound for Jabra, Philips for the 9050s, Phonak for the Senns, Starkey for the Soundgears.

If slim tip is molded around the receiver and fits deep into the ear, they make them. The audi I work with recommended them, which is one of the reasons I stick with Costco. I hear much better with these molds than I do with the molds that the receiver fits into and can be separated into 2 functional pieces. (I hope that’s clear enough….)

Yeah if you guys want to swap and choose brands/models, it’s good to have the silicone moulds, as most receiver in each level of power are similar sizing, easy to remove and fits others.

Yeah, I have been a Phonak wearer (except for one yr with a Rexton back to the Phonak Micropower. That was acrylic and if the pull-out fishline broke off off to the audi to get new mold - no repair. With the silicone Phonak slimtips you can pull the receiver out to clean em, wax trap, etc and use an umbrella to have something intil they get back. May be like that with other manufacturers. It was not like that with my acrylics - not sure if acrylics have that. does not for sure. Costco cannot or will not get sphere molds - receivers and I believe the receiver end will fit my KS9 or Lumity. I am now recently so it is a sphere in the right and the in the left. Hoping Cochlear gets with someone in the very near future that has updated futures as I am not sure what will become of Resound since they sold out and I do not want the older tech yet unless I can pick up one cheap. The series 5 fits the Paradise and Lumity and the previous Costco Sennheiser Sonite R model. The Series 6 fits the Phonak Infinio and the current Costco Sennheiser model Sonite Rise. They are not interchangeable.

Just like me. However, I would recommend rather Sphere for better ear, because it’s only in the market with really unilateral denoising.

The only benefit from Resound+Cochlear sound processor is bilateral streaming and nothing else, no functions, such as narrower beamforming, etc.

You should be able to take your impression from Costco to any Audiologist clinic and get the moulds made.

This surprises me I recently got the Sennheiser ones the sonic ones from Costco about three months ago and decided that I wanted to try the custom molds I specifically told him about the slim tips and they seemed well they didn’t really seem to acknowledge what I was asking for and instead gave me these things that are anchored in the ear canal and the impression came back with blunt ends they didn’t really reach down into my ear canal That’s why I wanted the slim tips I can have them remade within the 90 days but will I really get anything else made than the ones they already took the impression. And by the way they probably need to remake the impressions as they not come out as expected - IOW they did not go past the bend and into the ear cannel.
