Loudness all of sudden

Just wonder if anyone had the experience where your hearing become loudness all of sudden, out of blue? really loud, uncomfortable and can be painful to listen to anything. I had to go back to the audiologist to turn the volume down and change the mapping. Yes I do have nucleus smart app but wouldn’t let me to turn the volume down any further.

I wear Nucleus 8 in my left ear and was activated last July. It’s happened to me 6 times in the last 8 months! The first time it’s happened was last October, 3 months after activated and the last one was last Friday while I was driving the bus, taking group of people to a day out.

Just wondering if anyone had this and why this happening? Thanks

It’s just sort of odd to happen out of the blue with no changes to the . Migraine can present as just vision sensitivity or auras, or just dizziness without pain. It can also present as hearing changes. I wonder, if you treated it like it was a migraine what would be the result. Possibly ask your doctor about this.

I’m guessing your audiologist has run diagnostics on your implant and sound processor as a first step? Pay attention to your surroundings the next time it happens and see if there is anything in common across each occurance.

Interesting that this just started happening with my Advanced Bionics . Must be something in the stars :grinning_face: . I’ll check with my audiologist. I am able to control it in the app but it will eventually get louder again. What’s a drag about it is that I need my iPhone with me all the time to access the app.

Yes this happened to me a couple of times. My audi ran diagnostics and nothing was identified as an issue with the equipment; their report they ran didn’t see anything abnormal.

Since I do have Meniere’s (thus the need for a after the attacks damaged that hearing) they believe that it likely is tied into one of those attacks. (Although I didn’t have the other issues as a normal attack.)

Fortunately it hasn’t happened for a while - but I can confirm that it was uncomfortable; even my own voice was worse.

This has happened to me twice. Thankfully I have No aster Volume on the Nucleus Smart app. It was on one ear out of the two. I used master volume to really lower the volume. It took a couple weeks of this then I slowly started raising the volume back up over a week or so. This worked great for me.

Personally I don’t believe so. Tinnitus in itself can be crazy loud, could that be what you are talking about?

@Debs I’m sorry I just found this, this morning. I’m not tech savvy, I’ve had similar happen to me as well. What I found was my scan program had automatically jumped to another scan program.

As you’re still in your 12 months where your still possibly makes each scan program louder than the previous scan.
