Having two different receiver strengths?

Hello all, I decided to go to my audiologist and ask for P receivers as both of them are M at the moment. They are the Phonak Infinio Spheres Ultra. I told them how my hearing aids has an issue where some parts of a spoken sentence sounds like it is echoing off the walls and also weirdly loud to the point of discomfort. Like a distortion only for certain tones/pitches in a sentence. And it only happens in like offices or closed rooms.

They talked to someone at Phonak and raised the which helped a lot, but only one hearing aid was still doing it, albeit a little less so but still there. We decided to send that hearing aid in to get it changed to the P receiver, which will take a few weeks. But I realize now that one will have it and the other will still have the M.

Does anyone else have it like that? Does it sound weird if they’re both different?

Not weird at all. Many including me have different power receivers in each ear. The weird thing is that your audiologist or HAS had to send them back to Phonak for the change. If she/he has extra receivers on hand, that is a 30 second change in their office.

Based on your , I’m surprised you are using an M.

I’ve never heard of an sending the aids to Phonak for a receiver change . AuDs have plenty of them in stock and it takes seconds to replace them (and they are cheap ). Maybe Phonak said something else may be going on. You can buy them on eBay for $30.

One user recently posted here that the (veterans health ) sends him the receivers to his house.

I would just get two Ps since your audiogram shows similar losses in both ears .

The only thing is that I’ve heard the Ps are bigger but they should not have different sound .

Hi , I’m not an audiologist, but my thinking would be , it’s hard enough hearing in noise , without my brain thinking its my aids of different powers tricking me .

Hence I didnt like that option , when it was out to me .

Try it and see how it goes . Your world might like it . Only you can decide . Flat walls reverberate. Bouncing sounds .

Tell your Audiologist how it works for you .

This loss should have been fitted with P receivers (and probably ) from the outset, as long as there’s enough space and you weren’t aware of high pitch floor noise.

I don’t understand why (from a professional point of view) the aid went away for the fix or different receivers weren’t considered at the outset, probably with double domes.

Oh, I forgot to put in my main post but my aids do have . I asked why Phonak couldn’t send us the new receivers with the mold thing they already have and my audiologist explained that the warranty covers everything if they send the whole hearing aid out to Phonak.

I think I was fit with M’s because I had complained about it being a bit too loud at one point so I had some headroom left. But now that there’s a distortion going on, I guess it needs more room? I’m not very sure.

Yes correct, so they would need to make new cShells, send the new ones to the clinic for the swap over.

That’s why, yes, if you have a , the shell needs to go back. Your audiologist could have loaned you a pair of power receivers with power domes in the interim. The whole aid didn’t need to travel.
