Unable to pair Phonak infineo isphere aids with remote control

Hello all, I am trying to pair my Phonak isphere 90 aids to my remote control but so far have been unable to pair them. The remote control was purchased on ebay and the seller stated that the controller was fully tested and working. I have unpaired the remote as per the instructions but still no joy. I have also tried another remote with the same result. The aids do however connect to the Phonak app and I am able to control the aids using that.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Why does my Phonak RemoteControl become unresponsive when used together with the myPhonak app?

The RemoteControl device may stop responding when used simultaneously with myPhonak, as concurrent operation of both is not supported.

To use the RemoteControl alongside the myPhonak app, you need to disable the ‘Stay Connected’ feature in myPhonak by following the steps below:

  1. Open the myPhonak app.

  2. Tap on “Devices.”

  3. Go to “Connection Management.”

  4. Deactivate “Stay Connected.”

Once you’ve completed these steps, you should be able to use both the RemoteControl and myPhonak simultaneously.

Many thanks for the reply. I’ve disabled all bluetooth on my phone and laptop and deactivated ‘Stay Connected’ in the app but still can’t pair the aids with the remote. The remote I have has a Ref of 076-0065-P5. I’m assuming this is the correct model form the isphere 90 ?

I’m not sure what the problem is or whether it can be done at all. I have two remote controls and I have not been able to pair either with my Spheres. They pair easily with my L90s and P90s but not with the I90s. Go figure.

I also have Infinio 90 Sphere and Phonak remote control. Here is what was explained to me.

Bluetooth has two channels; audio and control. The audio channel allows your Phonak to stay connected to multiple devices at the same time. Control channel can only be connected to one device at a time.

Thus, if you wish to use the remote control device you must be disconnected from the My Phonak App.

I have the buttons on my HAs disconnected because every time I put a hat on, it touches the buttons and would change volume or program. I bought the remote control to easily change volume/program without having to pull out my phone every time I wanted to make a change. Then I found out why my idea won’t work.

Not a great design and I wish Phonak would change it, but it is what it is.

I am not sure why your idea shouldn’t work since it worked and still does on prior models. Maybe it has something to do with the addition of the so far unused channel

Are you placing the aids very close (few inches max) from the remote during pairing? Pairing accessories often has issues if the aids are too far from the accessory.

Prior to pairing the remote, have you turned Bluetooth off on other devices the aids are paired to such as your phone?

I believe you need to use the Phonak Target software to pair the remote control to your hearing aids. As a person that’s what I did. Visit your audiologist and bring the remote control with you.
