I don’t want to derail the OP’s thread, but your comment interested me a great deal.
I have been considering tinkering with self programming because while my audio has done a fantastic job, she can’t hear what my ears are receiving and tests can only tell so much. It seems like a lot of people have found self programming beneficial to further improve what an audiologist can do. I mean no disrespect to my audio. She has been fantastic but she is still limited by the fact that I am the only one that can hear what my ears are getting. So, now that I have a really good fit, it seems like self programming is the next logical step?
The main thing I found was to do it in as silent an area as possible and use the absolutely lowest sound you can hear at each frequency. Also do not forget to use the feedback analyser.
Can you explain what you do here as this sounds like something I would find beneficial. Your comment about your wife’s mumbling low talk is exactly the sort of problem I still encounter. Soft speech is still my underlying problem and my gut instinct tells me it is specific frequencies that are the problem.
