Phonak sds 6.0 repair cables

Following what I consider to be poor instructions, I damaged three cables by pulling on them directly behind the connector.

Since I’ve been holding and pulling the wires directly behind the receiver, all the wires have remained intact.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to repair (perhaps by soldering) the damaged wires?

Each sds 6.0 costs €30–50 in europe.

Yeah, I broke three also doing that. I learned, at least for my aids, you need to pry the plastic or rubber shield around the connector out a little bit before pulling on the wires. If the connection is too tight you will break the wire. I am not aware of any way to repair that. I got new receivers from Ebay. Good luck.

I broke three in one month . Doing what you said stopped the problem for me (grabbing the wire as close to the receiver as possible ).

And , like you , I searched for cheap ones on eBay and bought spares (the one for my brand rarely sell cheap on eBay).

Soldering ? For $30, that’s not worth my time

Maybe we should buy them wholesale from Abram (100?) and distribute them here.

I have a big hand so it’s harder to grab the wire next to the connector. i use small jewelry pliers, they have proven to be great for grabbing the wire in multiple places and pulling the connector. I didn’t break any receiver.

I’ve got not just one, but three faulty speakers.
That comes to about €100.

But it’s not so much the cost that matters to me.
I just enjoy fixing things, whenever possible.

If you pull direct behind the receiver (not the connector), than you need no tool.

This is my case. However, I don’t know how it happened, because I always pull by removal filament, which is even 15 mm long after my special request in the order.

Same thing happens to me, really annoying! When you remove or place them in your ears, the weight of the is always pulling at wire, like a paper clip, back and forth until it breaks

Perhaps Phonak haven’t taken into account weigh of rather large Infinio Sphere? :sweat_smile: 3.0 g vs. 2.4 g of Infinio R (non-Sphere).

Yeah, these movements are at an unfavorable angle to the exit point of the cable from the faceplate from a mechanical and stress standpoint.

Its probably in warranty period, so I will return it to the manufacturer. I’m afraid that superglue (cyanoacrylate) is too brittle after drying.
