Welcome to the forum @parmenion31 why do you think you’d need to, are you out and about with a busy social life I wonder, the cost is whatever your clinic can get from you! it’s not set in stone, so I’d recommend when the time comes to get new go straight to Costco not only the best price in town but they only sell premium models.

I have heard of some Unitron accounts just charging the difference between the technology levels. However, this might vary depending on how the particular clinic bundles or unbundles services.

Not much social life although i am 55 years old , vivante v3 has 10 channels and v5 has 14 i think .Maybe more channels provide more clear and better sound , but yes i hear costco have great models.

Don’t read too much into how many “channels” they may have, you should look more for features that actually help with speech, especially in noisy environments, if you like sonova there’s always Phonak sphere but very expensive! or ReSound Viva, soundgear (Starkey) etc from Costco

Talk to your audiologist about the cost. They’re the ones that run the upgrade. You can trial higher technology levels for free for up to 4 weeks to see whether it makes any difference before purchasing.
