Our church has added WaveCAST to its PA system. They also have but this system would be available for those that don’t have T-coil. I have to connect to their WiFi system and then download the WaveCAST App. Once it’s all setup it will connect automatically. Has anyone used this app?

I think it has been mentioned a time or two. I recall there being mention of a lot of latency.

Not everyone has a mobile phone for that matter. You also need something to listen with. Wired headphones are bulky and conspicuous. Legacy Bluetooth buds have high latency which means an uncomfortable listening experience. Low latency buds or aids stand a reasonable chance of being capable anyway.

That leaves people with mfi or equipped hearing aids and you’d really need the latency to the phone to be low.

It does actually. The phone acts as a relay from the broadcast to the aids. You do get the additive latency of two hops. expecting the punters to source and buy their own dongles might be a bit hopeful too.

Have you tried listening through your Phonaks with a difference of 250+ ms between what’s being streamed and what’s playing through the sound system? You would want some pretty good sound isolation. I’d rather just close my eyes and find my happy place for the duration of the service.

There isn’t any delay in my phonaks that I can tell and I read lips all the time. I have had delays in my Oticon INTENT1 aids at times.

Is this while watching TV? Some TVs correct for Bluetooth latency. I’ve tried buds with Bluetooth classic audio together with sound from the speakers on a TV that doesn’t correct for latency. The lip-sync issue is the least of it. For me I perceive a boomy effect that is unpleasant almost to the point of being painful. I wouldn’t use high latency Bluetooth earbuds or aids for assistive listening. I don’t think I’m alone.

So. At this rate it sounds like may take a really long time to become the standard.

Such a shame.
