I can definitely hear the “s” sounds better.
With my first try I thought I couldnt hear it, so boosted the soundrecover a bit, but then the “s” sounds were just overwhelming, so Ive put it back to the default setting, after that I noticed that indeed, yes the s sounds are there.

My understanding is that some acclimatisation time is needed, and I agree fully with this. Speech is somewhat better, but I think it will take a lot off patience and time to really get the full benefit. I think I hear the words much better now, but my brain havent really made a connection to the word yet, so I think I struggle now to understand the word rather than hearing it. <<< does this make sense?
To add to this, I also have to force myself to listen, I’ve got the bad bad habit of ignoring sounds, because I think I cant hear them anyway - So have to force myself to pay attention, even when someone speaks to me, and not just lipread and take ques and predict or guess what they were saying. This must sound so weird. But yes overall my sound perseption is better with the Naida’s when I concentrate.

That is also why I do my “exercise” every day with my radio, try to sit for at least an half an hour with the radio on and try to hear, and understand the words and put it into context with the sentence. Radio advertising is great because the voices change continuously and there are almost always background music, and I cant cheat by reading lips. I also noticed that after a “radio session” I am much more perceptive of people talking.

I actually listen to music with soundrecover on and its not too bad, but then again I couldnt hear the music properly before the Naida’s anyway, so dont think I am a good judge of how it make music sound.

Phone use - absolutely fantastic!! I use the iCom and have the jabra on my office phone, even though I still have problems with them saying my voice sound like on a bad speakerphone, I can hear them loud and clear in both ears - For the first time in a very long time (if ever) if a person call in now, they usually say… Hi this is XXX speaking, I could never catch the name - it was just too much in the beginning and too fast - Since I got the Naida’s I havent missed one name (ok I dont get that much calls, but still…)

Like I said I am wearing it with the thin tubes, and the Naida is not really made for thin tubes.
However I am going to pick up the molds I had made this afternoon, and am going to give them a try for two weeks. After that I will decide if I will wear them with molds or thin tubing.
I am very excited to see what the difference is between the two. I will keep you posted on how the molds turn out.

I would like to hear what you have to say about standard tubes compared to slim tubes with the Nadia IX aids. Your answer may sway me to get the Nadia IX or the Exelia Art aids or just get the standard #13 tubes for the Nadia V aids.

The questions about Sound Recover have mixed answers with me. The concept of Sound Recover is great. My experience with it and the Nadia V aids with slim tubes was good but the Exelia Micro aids I am now wearing are much better as far as speech recognition. These Exelia Micro aids do not have Sound Recover.

The sound recover thing is still not clear. How long will it take someone to benifit from that?

Stream, take a look at my audiogram, it is a little worse than that now.

I waited a long time to get hearing aids due to past experiences with audiologists. I had been told that aids would not help me due to tinnitus. Because I waited so long it took me longer to adjust to hearing aids, about 2 or 3 months. I used Phonak Savia aids then the Nadia V SP aids with Sound Recover during this time. The complication of adjusting to aids for the first time with pretty bad hearing losses combined with using Sound Recover was a challenge. I have done my own programming from the start so anytime changes were possible. That may have been good and bad?? I can say it takes time to adjust. I can also say that I truly enjoy my aids. They have been a blessing to my life.

As far as Sound Recover goes, my Exelia Micro aids without Sound Recovery have done the best for me. The Nadia V SP aids have Sound Recover and they worked well for me but not as good as the Exelia Micro aids. My using the slim tubes on the Nadia V aids may have taken away from their abilities, I don’t know. Gaba-gal will hopefully help with this question. It may be the differences between the V and IX aids I was hearing, not the slim tubes.

I think most of the problem happened becasue I delayed accepting I should get hearing aids until I suddenly found out theat my hearing loss is nearly profound. It is my first week to wear hearing aids in real life. Shouldn’t I have done that many years ago to save my hearing from dropping this bad?

The ENTs I went to were passive. No one pushed me to get hearing aids. All just advised me to get aids if I have problems.

Maybe the hearing aids stigma plaued so much here otherwise many of us could have used hearing aids earlier.
