I had a feedback issue with my right Jabra Enhance Max (ReSound Enzo IA) aid after close to 3 months. I got an appointment with my fitter and discovered that my right ear had a little bit of wax build up. My fitter ran the feedback management program and eliminated the feedback. I then ordered me a ear camera and cleaned the wax out.

You could as a test, insert your left aid into your right ear to see if the feedback is gone or still there.

I've had similar issues and it seems that setting "Feedback Management" on the aids can reduce or eliminate that very annoying feedback.

Have that done at your next app't and if that still doesn't work (like put your hand up to your left hear and see if it still squeals) then it's likely the custom fit mold. That would require a new impression and re-tooling.

Feedback occurs when sound from the HA receiver escapes and reaches the HA microphones. It’s a physical process that requires stopping the leak. This usually means the mold /dome fitting is incorrect. The dome/mold must seal the ear canal well enough to prevent feedback.

I’m not a fan of reducing sound leaks with gain reductions or feedback manager when the whistling is chronic . I think this is just a band-aid that alters the sound and the effectiveness of the programming .

I agree with @Hearing_Potential : any new aid , no matter who is paying for it (workers comp, insurance , self -pay), has a limited trial time or limited return period. The usual I’ve seen is 30 to 45 days (of course there are exceptions like Costco). After that, you cannot return the aids . This is why it is very important to have a follow up during that period. This should be stated in the purchase agreement papers you received when you got the aids. The last thing you want is to be stuck with aids that do no work for you.

They were provided under workman’s compensation. Different country. Ontario Canada. Our guvmint is controlling (reducing) medical costs and making audiologists work very very hard with poor compensation. Specialist prescribes them , sets them up. Sends me home. I’m very lucky I found my specialist. I’m very lucky I have the ENZOS iA’s.

Ontario selects the hearing aids negotiates the price, limits service cost. Every accessory must be approved by workman’s comp.

A week after I got them I took the left one off. I pulled the plastic tube off the hearing aid. I’ve worked to try and eliminate feedback by changing the tube location on the hearing aid.

I’ll call the supplier tomorrow.

I did the same thing in case the tubing was pulling the mold slightly one way or the other breaking the mold seal. I even replaced my tubes which didn't help. In my case it was probably the small bit of wax in my right ear which changed the shape of my ear canal slightly. My feedback didn't sound like normal feedback (cupping hand over aid) to me. My feedback was at the very high frequency of 8k. Anyway, I very seldom get wax build up in my right ear but my left is more often.

Did you try putting your left aid in your right ear to see if the feedback was still there?

Through WSIB you get a MINIMUM 30 day trial period and then you answer some questions and sign a form indicating that you are keeping them and the provider is paid. You're probably past this point now (?), and when you say that they are new they are relatively new but not new-new. The provider doesn't get further payment from WSIB for a year, but the initial fee is supposed to cover all appointments within that first year. In the provider's defense, the reimbursement is low so they may try not to see their WSIB patients too much. But still, a good provider should see you at any point that you are having problems. Do not hesitate to call and if the provider refuses to see you do not hesitate to complain to WSIB.

As likely indicated somewhere above, feedback is due to sound leaking out of the canal and getting back into the mics. If nothing has changed then it may be a wax buildup. If you've been doing things to the tube it may be a tear or something.

There's a good chance you can just stop by the desk and they could fix it there for you.

WSIB overhauled their fee for service model into a bundled model last year with the result that clinicians providing the bare minimum services will be making more and clinicians providing superlative services are making a lot less. As of October 7, WSIB is also increasing the degree of hearing loss you need to qualify and excluding people with any type of asymmetry that might indicate a medical contribution unless it can be proven that noise exposure was asymmetrical. They asked for feedback and everyone was like "no this is bad" and their response was "we took your feedback into account and are moving ahead with exactly what we want to do." I'm not that fond of them right now.

Ford government can suck it.

Ok. I assumed that all Enzo IA aids comes with a standard plastic or metal hook which connects to the tubing that leads down to your specific ear mold. I was asking if you can take the left aid and disconnect the left mold and connect your right mold to it to put into your right ear for a test. Anyway, I hope you get your fitter gets you squared away. I really do like my Jabra branded ones.

I’m a rooky with BTE hearing aids.

My issue started when I pulled the left one from my ear and it came off the hook. I’ve been obsessed since then. I’ve been trying to get the insert to seal.

I’m afraid I’ll make it worse.

All to no avail.

The feedback disturbs my wife terribly. It’s louder than my tinnitus! It disturbs me too!

Today I super cleaned both inserts and my ears. HA was quiet for about 5 minutes.

I thought I had it licked.

Right now I’m in the program I get feedback. I’ve turned the gain down two notches.

I’ll likely go back to the noise program today.

I had the same issue when I first got my Jabra branded version. My aids came with the metal hooks and I suppose you probably have them as well. I have to push the tubing up about a mm or 2 past the taper on the hook for mine to stay. Always hold the aid by the hook when doing this. The metal ear hook seems a bit slippery to the plastic tube and would come off the hook when I removed my aid.
