Phonak Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere UP and the Phonak Naída Lumity L90-SP, and why?

Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with these hearing aids.

I won a hearing-aid grant, and I have to use it by next month. I would have preferred to wait longer, but unfortunately I can’t wait any more. The newer models I was hoping for never became available on the approved list, and I have already waited long enough.

At the moment, I’m using an Oticon Xceed SP1, and I’m actually quite happy with it. I manage well with it and have no major problems.

Now I’m considering either the Phonak Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere UP or the Phonak Naída Lumity L90-SP. I will be able to try both of them in about two weeks.

I have already tried the Oticon Intent miniRITE R with a 105 receiver, but honestly, I didn’t notice any significant difference compared with my Xceed SP1.

So I would really appreciate your experiences and opinions. Which would you choose between the Phonak Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere UP and the Phonak Naída Lumity L90-SP, and why?

Unfortunately, I cannot choose any newer hearing aids because they are not included on the approved list.

Does your Audiologist/ can perform Real Ear Measurement?

That should provide an answer if Audéo Infinio Sphere 90 Ultra will provide enough amplification.

Yes, I can say that with the Oticon Intent miniRITE R with the 105 receiver, I heard just as well as I do with my Xceed SP1. However, with the 100 receiver, I could already feel that it was not enough — I felt that something was missing and that I needed more power.

What is your opinion on these two hearing aids: the Phonak Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere UP and the Phonak Naída Lumity L90-SP? Which one would you personally consider, and why?

I am especially interested in the Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere UP+ cShell . Do you have any idea how many hours the battery would realistically last with the UP+ cShell receiver? I know Phonak advertises up to 56 hours of battery life, but I assume that this is under ideal conditions and probably not with a UP+ cShell receiver and a more powerful fitting.

So, 100 receiver or 105 receiver?

What's your percentage in each ear separately and binaurally?

30-40 h of normal use.

I would usually opt for more powerful hearing aids, because "bell ands whistles" will not be helpful if the basics like proper amplification isn't perfected.

I hope you have earmolds with no vents?

If you have practically no hearing in highest frequencies or they're distorted when amplified (e. g. during audiometry) you can also try Audeo Infinio Sphere 90 Ultra with SoundRecover2 and assume there is no point to make amplification over 1.5-2 kHz.

However, it's need adjustment and "getting to used to" period. @Raudrive could say more about it.

It appears you have 3 different hearing aid choices, is that correct?

With your hearing loss aids are probably the better choice but we do have members with worse that are very happy with type aids.

If I were trying out different aids from the list you provided with your hearing loss I would probably give the Phonak Spheres a try with P receivers using a little , not a lot and occlusive molds.

If your lifestyle is typically in quiet places I would try the Oticons. Again with the 100 receivers with a little frequency shifting. Enough to get out of the profound frequencies.

If those two choices didn't work out for you I would try the Nadia L SP or UP pending on how you dealt with the frequency lowering.

When my hearing started getting bad I learned I could use a non power RIC aid with frequency lowering and a P receiver with great results. My upper frequencies were no results on the .

I read that is really important for Phonak sphere fitting. I am in Tulsa Ok and am having problems finding an audiologist who performs REM. Any suggestions?
