My new Phonak Sphere hearing aids are great and so is the softer silicon ear piece. However, I have a problem changing on my ear piece. In the past the wax guards in my ear pieces were easy to replace. The new ear pieces force the user to tug the wire out of the ear piece to replace the wax guards. Since I got them I had changed the wax guards and breaking the wire connecting the hearing aid and the wax guards. My audiologist agrees, who has to replace the wire, that the design is flawed and that tugging can easily break the wire. After the second time I did it I have thought about getting something to help me replace wax guards. Creatively I thought that a small needle nose jewelry pliers might work. I tested one carefully which did allow me to remove the wire from the ear pieces, but I still fear it may be too much. My question then is has anyone found a tool that will help you remove the wire’s plug easily?
