Hi all,
I have Oticon Intent 3 miniRITE R with 85 receivers and I'm looking at the dome options in Genie 2.
For the Intent, Genie only offers the Bass Double Vent dome (plus Open, Power etc.) – there's no Bass Single Vent to select. For many other Oticon models the Single Vent shows up with the same 85 receiver, and the miniFit Single Vent domes physically fit the Intent receivers.
The hearing loss (I can't upload the , so here are the values):
Symmetrical, gently sloping sensorineural-type loss, moderate in the lows and mids, moderately severe in the highs. About 40 at 125 Hz, dropping steadily to about 80 dB at 8 kHz. roughly 60 dB in both ears.
Two questions:
1. Why is that? Is there a technical reason the Single Vent isn't offered for the Intent (e.g. different feedback handling, microphone placement, 4D sensors), or did Oticon just simplify the dome range for newer models?
2. Does it make sense to try the Single Vent dome anyway, with Double Vent selected in Genie? I understand the gain is calculated for the Double Vent acoustics, so it wouldn't be 100% correct. Would running the feedback analyzer with the Single Vent in place compensate for that well enough, or is the difference big enough that I should stick with the Double Vent?
3. Which dome would you recommend for this audiogram – Bass Double Vent, Bass Single Vent, Power dome, Grip Tip, or is this already in custom mold territory? With ~40 dB in the lows I'm wondering whether bass domes are closed enough to keep the low-frequency gain, or whether a more closed fitting would be better.
Thanks!
