Tap control with Phonak Eon

I have very recently been fitted with Eon sphere 70s and as I have a hand tremor am trying to move as many functions to voice control as I can.

I am finding tap control for both calls and digital assistant will work but are very erratic in both how hard I have to tap (I have tried all three tap settings), and whether they work at all. It used to work well with my old aids.

Does anyone have any insights or suggestions?

I believe that there is a sensitivity adjustment in the programming software for tap control.

I have a set of Eon 90s on trial I set the tap control at "gentle" and I'm impressed how effective and reliable it is. I don't seem to have any false traps when I put on a T-shirt or brush my hair. Alli can suggest is too try the different tap settings through the My Phonak app. At least on my Eons, it appears that Phonak has nailed the tap control. Good luck.

How are you tapping? In Target there is a training section where your audiologist can have you practice and see whether the tap is detected. Some may do better tapping the bone area in front of the ear.

I have just tried tapping much lower on my ear, over half way down closer to the lobe and at first attempts it seems to be working. Thank you.

My old aids responded to a tap very high on the ear

There are many variables between different ears, receiver wire lengths, different aids with different placement of hardware, different bone shapes, different places folks tap, etc. It's not a touch sensor. It uses the accelerometer. It's a mostly works convenience not a button. It should mostly work once getting the hang of it for each individual person.
