Replacement Receiver Wire

MicroTech/Starkey. Dog chewed up the receiver and wire. Need to order new receiver wires, local shop I purchased from wants $300.00 to replace. I can get them online for about $110.00. I know I need a size 2 left and right but also have a choice of 50dB or 60 . Is this a matter of both work so I might as well get the 60dB or what?

If you know any reliable parts shippers please let me know.

You need to replace them with the same receivers that were on the ’s, if you don’t have the receivers to see which ones they are you will need to ask the person who wants to charge you $300 which receivers to order. Didn’t the person you went to give you a loss or damage warranty on the new HA’s? I would guess the dog chewing up the receiver wire would fall under damage. A friend of mines dog chewed up both his HA’s and his audi sent what was left back to Phonak and they were replaced for free under the damage part of his warranty. From what I’ve read on this site and others, it always seems to be Starkey owners who get the raw end of the deal when they have a problem with their aids from the person they bought them from; the big question is, is it the audi or Starkey who is so hardnosed?

He seb. I see the rating now. Rather than use up my warranty I just bought new wires and receivers. Moved up to the 50dB from the 40 and had them reprogrammed.

the db number is the ‘power’ of the receiver… that is programmed into your . don’t understand the need to fight just take a copy of your warranty along on your visit and ask them to replace what needs to be replaced. you might want to be nice since it’s your fault for leaving them out.

We don’t do ‘accidental’ damage cover here, but a replacement receiver is around £40 for nearly all makes except Widex who must make their wires from a platinum or gold alloy. It’s a mockery to charge £300 for a component that costs the manufacturers about $12 which they put their wire/socket on for about $1 further.

Anyone in their first two years gets the receiver replaced FOC as part of their warranty.

The last two sets of hearing aids I have had both had warranties including one time “hazard” loss at $300 each. Both had specific exclusions for doggie damage so I guess it is a rather common problem.

If your audi doesn’t want to work with you on the receiver give Tom a call at 1-888-580-4327 and see what he would charge for replacing the receiver. He and his partners all worked for Starkey in So CAL for years before starting www.directhearingaidservices.com90 when Starkey moved all their operations to Minnesota. I would bet he would charge way less than $300.
