All,
I wanted to thank you all for the great advice I have received on this fourm. It has been invaluable. I am a new user (about 1 year) I started with Verso 7’s and now using Linx 7’s. When I first was fitted it was a fantastic feeling to be able to hear again and I immediately felt a reduction in the anxiety I was having. I followed the audiologists advice to the word, adjusting the devices periodically and slowly increasing the time worn as well as in different environments. My original devices were provided to me without the “tail” (I don’t know what the proper name for the piece is) to keep the receiver in my ear. I noticed I was developing a habit of constantly making sure the receiver was as deep in my ear as possible. It got so bad that I often wondered if the extra mm I pushed it in would actually make a difference in my hearing. Well I scheduled an appointment with the audiologist and was told that some individuals have the issue of the receiver popping out when you chew or smile, which was exactly the problem I was having. So they put those “tails” on each device and I was told that they will be irritating at first but will break in and conform to my ear. I went on my way and they actually worked, the receiver stayed in my ear and I had minimal issue with that but my ear started to become sore and I assumed that is was just because it wasn’t used to something pushing against it. With that in mind I gave it some time, about 3 months time to see if it would go away. Unfortunately it hasn’t. Yesterday I was bothered by them so badly that I pulled them off the device and put the HA’s back in my ear with a sigh of relief.
My questions is
do the HA’s function as well if they pop out a bit? I assume a mm isn’t that big of a deal. If not is there any other way to keep the receiver appropriately positioned in my ear with out the discomfort?
Again, thanks for all the good advice.
Sincerely,
Marc
