It 9F here at the moment. Don’t think that was mentioned by the Paradise Chamber of Commerce.
Come on down to Central Texas it was freezing this morning then up to 70 this afternoon. Even warmer tomorrow afternoon.

I have a question about replacing the receiver on a Brio 312. I am pretty sure that I managed to kill/damage my left receiver. I was prescribed ear drops for an ear infection. Even though I waited 3-4 hours before putting my hearing aid in my ear must have still been wet. Now, it boots up and works for about 1-2 hours then the sound fizzles out. It will only work again after spending several hours in the dry n store. I have been reading posts about Costco not selling receiver wires. Do they offer replacements or will I have to use the warranty to replace the entire hearing aid? The aid itself seems to be working fine, still changing modes etc.

Just go to the nearest store and they’ll give you a new one. They should have plenty of receivers in stock.

Also make sure you have a desiccant system such as Dry&Store to keep your aids moisture free at night. I also use one these to dry my ear canals when needed: http://www.devonsuperstore.com/Dryears-P47.aspx2

Yeah! These are the bomb! Moisture + hearing aid receivers/wires do not mix!

Costco doesn’t carry a model that’s equivalent to the Naída Q , but you can use one of the Brio R models (which are similar to Audéo Q) as long as you don’t need the SuperPower plus receiver.

Thank you, I guess I will keep looking. There are several sellers on ebay for the Q70 models at a unbelievable price. I don’t know if I should wait for the latest and greatest.

There’s not much difference between Naída S CRT IX and Naída Q90 . You would get two new features: Speech in Wind and auto StereoZoom. I don’t think it’s worth your money to upgrade.

With my type of hearing loss, can I assume that using any frequency transposition (e.g. sound recover, etc) will no longer help me? Does it mean that it’s more practical to focus on improving my residual hearing up 1.5khz ?

Have you you ever considered a cochlear implant for the left? In the R, amplifying past up to 1k only may be the most beneficial for you. Freq trans will not help in your case.

My 2 cents worth (my hearing was nearly a mirror of yours). You will be overlapping a ton of frequencies using transposition. Your hearing is ideal for a hybrid Cochlear Implant like I got last year. If you are under 80 years old and reasonably healthy you should investigate an implant. Good luck either way!

Thanks for the advice! Due to financial and time constraints I have not considered cochlear implant, so I am squeezing whatever benefits the hearing aid technology can offer.

I have had the Costo Phonek for about 4 weeks. I had the Rexton Cobalt 16 for five years. I noticed the battery life on the Phonek is about half that of the Rexton. Rexton lasted 8 days, Phonek only 4. Is there a reason for this and is there a way to make the Phonek battery life last longer?
Also, I have had one adjustment which helped with tinniness of sound, but now when watching tv with the Compilot, many voices on tv drama’s are muffled. I am fine with the news, talk shows, etc. I also get a lot of tinniness when someone is speaking in a room, even as small as 10x10, if they have a higher pitched voice. Can either of these two situations be corrected? Otherwise I like the Phonek. I just have to remember in certain situations to turn off the compilot or the cell phone calls and texts interrupt me in my work place at times.

Five years has lead to stronger and more demanding processing. But, I doubt that is the major reason for the difference. It is just like a tablet or smart phone whereyou are connecting to other devices and that causes added battery drain. Your attaching to accessories like TV and phone will use more watts than the hearing aid itself.

Hi,
I am glad I found you!
I have tried several hearing aids and always had to return them as the benefit if any did not justify the cost. One said that it is difficult to fit a hearing aid for the type of hearing loss I have - bell shaped, with poor hearing at low and hi ends, near normal in the mid ranges:
250 500 750 1000 1500 2000 3000 4k 6k 8k
R 55 55 50 40 30 30 25 45 80 80
L 45 50 50 40 20 20 25 45 65 75
speech audiometry:
L R
105 65
Direct 92 72
My question: Is there a particular brand of hearing aid that would cater to this type of hearing loss?
