I just got back from Costco where I tried the K6 and the Trax 42. I had a problem with the K6 with an echo effect when I talked but when someone was talking to me there was no echo. The Trax seemed to work fine. But I’m a “Newbie” and not sure what the problem was. The people at Costco tried hard to adjust the K6’s but to no avail. Has any one else had this problem with the K6? The thought of the extra $1000 is a bummer.
I tried some Phonaks before I went to Costco and got the K6s and I got echo effect. I got echo effect when I tried on the KS6s. It went away in a few days. This happens.
Hello, I am having issues with my KS6’s staying connected to the app on the iPhone and it is very frustrating. If I stray too far from my phone, restart the phone, open the battery door, etc. of course they disconnect, the problem however, is reconnecting them. Sometimes neither aid connects, other times one or the other does not connect, rarely have both aids connected at the same time. I have tried unparing from the iPhone itself but that didn’t work I also have changed batteries several times and opened the battery door and completely got out of the app opened the app again to try to reconnect but I keep having the same problem. I called the help line but they were really no help suggesting only that it could be due to dud batteries. So far I am very disappointed with the aids! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I think the KS6userportal.com11 might have some info. The best thing to do is turn off the iphone’s setup and reinstall the software. Then, reinable the phone connect. Then, do the software. Follow that sequence. It has worked for others.
Can someone please repost or tell me where to find this data sheet? I have another appt tomorrow at Costco and I am going to pull the trigger on some kind of aids but haven’t decided yet… Money is not so much of a concern as quality, but if the KS is similar to anything else with just minor tweaks, I am fine with that and will just trust that the background noise will dissipate. At least their adjustments are always free at Cosco
In addition to the actual data sheet for the KS661-DRW that rasmus was good enough to provide, the link at Hearing aids by ReSound - rechargable and streaming audio directly from AndroidTM and iOS devices10 may be useful to you. That shows the features and tech specs for the LN961-DRW (LiNX 9) among others. I would expect that the KS661-DRW is very nearly identical to this though there seems to be a small difference in the fitting range for the UP receiver.
Is anyone else getting static sounds when making phone calls using an iPhone 6 plus and the ks6? Could it be something wrong with the hearing aids, or is this normal?
No. At least from an iphone 5 there is no static. But I think I remember someone saying bluetooth was changed between 5 & 6. I haven’t read about any problems with the 6.

I have had a great experience with the KS 6 from Costco except for the first set having to be replaced after two weeks. About two weeks after the fitting my right aid went dead. The Costco hearing professional in Ft. Worth determined it was a circuit problem and immediately sent them in. I had a new replacement pair 5 days later.
I have been in for two subsequent adjustments since receiving the new pair. Started out with 1) Automatic 2) Restaurant 3) Music/TV and 4) Traffic. The first settings were for a new user since I am a first time wearer. The high frequencies were very tinny. After the first adjustment the tinny sound improved very much. I use the Automatic setting most of the time but find the Music/TV setting useful for listening to music and watching TV. The Restaurant setting seems to amplify all the sounds around but does focus somewhat on the people at my table. At my second adjustment my fitter made some adjustments to the Restaurant setting which improved it. We decided the Traffic setting was not working to my benefit and exchanged it for the Party mode with some adjustments. I like this mode very much for noisy environments. Looking forward to using it in the future. With a couple more tweaks I think I will be close to maximizing my hearing. I do not know if I am adjusting to the aids or the adjustments to the aids are responsible for my high degree of satisfaction. Probably a little of both. I am in my 4th month with the KS 6 aids and am very happy with my hearing improvement. BTW the tinny sounds have all but disappeared.
I did discuss the Rexton Trax 42 with the Costco hearing professional. He prefers the KS 6 for the durability of the wires and the nano technology protecting the aids from moisture. For my hearing profile he said the RS 6 was a very good fit. I would have been happy to pay the difference but he said there would be no benefit from the Rextons.
During my search to improve my hearing I did go to Beltone and a Starkey dealer. I tried their latest models with the Iphone connectivity and liked the Beltone more than the Starkey. Both pairs were north of $5500. Went to Costco in Ft. Worth and received an evaluation that was equal to the Beltone and Starkey. I later learned that the KS 6 and Beltone aids are made my the same manufacturer–Resound.
The service at Costco is both professional and compassionate. Both John and Cindy are the best. They are very busy but I am always able to make an appointment within a reasonable time for my adjustment sessions.
My advice if you are a first time HA wearer is to be patient with the process. Improved hearing does not come about overnight.
Thanks for your observations and advice. However the Rexton’s were not available when I bought my aids or I probably would have considered them. As I mentioned above, I am very happy with my KS6.
Not sure what the ratings mean. Is the RS6 rated at IP56 less durable than the Trax 42 at IP67?
Do not plan on immersing it in water but stuff does happen. I read where someone had put their KS6 through the washing machine and they worked upon drying and installing new batts.

The rating is not a measure of durability. It simply indicates whether dust or water entered the enclosure under the specific test condition. And the tests don’t reflect real-world situations. Most people don’t immerse their hearing aids in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes, or place them inside a box with talcum powder blowing around for 8 hours. ReSound does test their products under IP57 conditions, but they don’t use a third-party laboratory for certification.
