TV streaming requires the Smart Connect neckloop device plus the Tek Transmitter which attaches to your TV.

Last night while watching TV, my Trax 42’s played a tune. I’m not sure what it meant. I know it wasn’t the low battery or start up music. How can I find out what the different tunes mean?

It is likely that much cheaper Bluetooth transmitters through eBay etc. will work.

More bad information…

Nope…has a delay, gets lip sync problem. A $20 one works well on the laptop though.

Sorry Doc. My $39 Bluetooth transmitter works perfectly with Smart Connect.
Have you tried one?

You must be assuming all Bluetooth transmitters are the same.

$39? Have you got a link to it? I’d go broke trying everyone out there. Prior to getting hearing aids, well aware of delay issues with TV listening.

Apologies no link. A friend brought it home for me, from Hong Kong.

It seems to me reasonable that if hearing aid manufacturers can build Bluetooth streamers that don’t have lag / sync problems, so can other manufacturers. It is not rocket science.

I’d be interested in the model/type too.
I bought a cheaper one and it doesn’t work. Not worried as I was prepared to write off the cost if it didn’t.

Had the firmware update yesterday. Now my smart connect app is requesting access to cellular data. Why would that be ?
I have no desire to provide Siemens with my usage data ( if that’s why it needs data acceess). Especially if they don’t ask.
However, if there’s a direct benefit to me, I’d allow it.

I just went through the process with my 80 year old Mom and by my estimation the additional “complications” (to use watch terminology) would only turn into pitfalls for her.
She chose the Rexton Trax 42. Excellent controllability at the ear in absence of remote and no need to run the system through Apple or any other linked device. Personally we found Kirkland and Phonak’s almost forced integration with outside devices (iPad, phone, etc), combined with serious lack of control at the ear, to be a major drawbacks.
For her the sound with the Rexton’s was also the best…so a good across the board end result.

Was in Costco and asked audi about cellular data access. My primary reason for asking is to find out if there is a functional reason I would allow the app to access cellular data. The audi had no idea.
Anyone know why the app would request access to cellular data?

It can access audio cell data and things like notices. You can configure what you want the phone to send and not send. The app make check for updates and that can be configured to only happen with WiFi. If you uninstall the app and then reinstall, it should disclose what data it wishes to access.

I just looked at the permissions for the smart connect app on my Samsung tablet and it has access to.
1- Take pictures and video
2- Full network access. View network connections
3- Access bluetooth settings. Pair with blueetooth devices.
Wonder why they need to be able to take pictures and video?

Do they have some kind of privacy statement in the docs?
