I like my Rexton Trax 42 hearing aids and the service and advice I had gotten from the Costco staff. At one of my fittings, the audiologist suggested that the antenna wire on the smart connect medallion can be modified. He told me that one of his clients had clipped the wire antenna, cut off a large amount of it, solder the remaining ends together and cover the connection with electrical tape or plastic. He said that the client hangs it on his key chain and the smart connector and medallion work fine together. While I am capable of making those changes, is it really safe to do it? Has anyone else successfully tried to modify the antenna wire or the device? And, lastly, can I buy a shorter antenna wire with matching plugs that will work with the device at Radio Shack or some other electronics store?
I did not mind wearing the device in winter between my shirt and a sweater, but now that the hot summer days are here I’d like to be able to not have to wear it around my neck.
I would appreciate hearing suggestions from other users.
Thank you all.
