About six weeks ago, I bought a pair of Phonak Naida Q70 UP, from a member of this web board. These were to replace my NHS Nathos SP w.
I was surprised that It took about three weeks before the distortion went away. I use NAL NL1, which I find clearer than any other. Although a recent trial with Phonak Digital managed a close second.
Is the Quest chip so different from the Spice, or half way to the Venture?
They have really been very difficult to program, and found the start up jingle to be very quiet, except when 110% gain is used. I have them set at 100%, and can hardly hear it. But program change tones are louder. I also found the Zoom control has about 10db boost when disconnected from Target. When connected, it is very quiet. Fearing the worst, I sent them to be checked over. They came back, no faults, and no charge. But these problems still persist. I prefer the Zoom to Soundflow, because it is more consistent.
Although they have taken a long while to program to my liking, I find them better with loud speech, and more mellow than the Nathos. The TV loop is better than I have ever had, and also reasonably clear. I know the distortion is down to my very bad hearing, and no hearing aid is going to solve that!
The Zoom control works very well in a car, but not so good in a coach, where there is a lot more background noise.
But I am very pleased with them, and am sure I will get used to them.
