: In target I started a new session and checked for my . Target then applies a suitable MPO. You don’t need a trial-and-error because you still hear every frequency.

Why should we still go to the audiologist if we can do it ourselves?
in-situ is not the same as professional hearing test.

If you think it is the same then ask your professional audiologist why did he/she spend all that money on useless extra equipment? You think maybe they are just stupid?

No, not useless, of course not. I am just trying to understand where the difference is between what you can get with their help, and on your own with (in my case) the Target software. How much worse is it what you get when doing everything from scratch on your own.

Who knows? I dunno. Maybe 10% worse, maybe 40% worse if you’re drunk, maybe 70% worse if your girlfriend has her tongue in your ear?

In this forum…that’s a big eeewwww.
I’m a little overly sensitive to anything going on with my ears.
The tongue can be put to better use elsewhere thank you.

I shouldn’t joke. Maybe I can do better about answering you question. But this is based on my own personal experience because I am not a prpfessional.
Instead of using the fitting software in-situ tone test I prefer to let the fitting software generate the first-fit settings starting from a professional . Here a few top-of-my-head reasons why:
- a professional hearing test does more than air conduction tone testing so you get a professional analysis of your hearing loss
- ambient noise may interfere with your at home in-situ
- I have not personally observed any hearing improvement after using in-situ
Also, you should insist on receiving a copy of your audiogram (medical records) don’t leave your Audi’s office without it.
