My understanding that the new update enables:

  • Connection to 2 devices.
  • More flexible adjusting equalizer (bass-mid-treble)
  • telehealth(Remote adjustment).
  • adding custom programs

Or there are more! Am asking to see the option to get the KS9 + Hardware &software for self programming would definitely be much cheaper option than spending extra $2500 to get the Marvel!

You are still going to go for the KS9 even though it doesn’t connect to 2 devices etc etc? Or you won’t go for it if it doesn’t have those features?

It seems like you’re confusing the firmware update to Marvel 2.0 and the corresponding update to the app that went along with it. I think your first item is Marvel 2.0 related and the last 3 are app related. Marvel 2.0 also offers Roger iN capability, albeit at considerable cost.

They’re definitely related. The KS9 will be able to pair to one device at a time. It can connect to as many devices as you want, but you’ll have to unpair and pair each time you do so. The KS9 still has the same app it’s had from it’s introduction.

Something to remember about the KS9 connectivity is the TV Connector for for $99 at Costco. You can have a number of these for different wireless connections and a simple push of a button can switch from one TV Connector to another.
This example would be like using the aids Bluetooth to your phone and the TV Connectors for your laptop and TV as examples.

Am looking at this as what’s the best feasible option to go with as the base unit (KS9 & M90) is the same with de featuring of some options.
Hope that the trial succeed as my OPN-S didn’t get well because of feedback.

Hi. I’m new here and am hoping to try out the KS9 next week. Currently I am on a trial elsewhere with the Starkey 2400… I have a cookbite hearing loss if that’s relevant… will be getting a test at costco next week. I am interested in people’s feedback on the ks9 in classroom or meeting situations… as it stands now I with Starkey I can by hitting volume button hear a lot of people’s questions that they ask… Does anyone have feedback on this aspect using KS9… and are you getting the Costco tech to use a manual program or will it work on the auto… Are the techs ok with adding manual programs and how many visits do you get after purchase…

I also find one to one with males with low voices it is hard to hear though with the starkey by increasing volume it is a lot better… Curious on this as well.

In terms of Bluetooth… the app for Starkey seems to always circle though I can use mifi with iphone and increase volume that way… when I heard my own voice recording I made to a service I use it sounded tinny and unnatural… Does anyone have feedback on how others hear their voice during bluetooth phone calls… Thanks for any replies. I also wonder what people do with phone calls if they don’t use bluetooth… Sometimes with Starkey I will use a soft wireless ear bud headphone over the hearing aid and it sounds fine as it is a pain to pull them out when driving etc. Can an earbud be put over the KS9 gently… and do you miss calls on BlueTooth… That is why I don’t like to use it as well as battery drain…

Phonak aids have a good reputation for not having feedback issues. That is with proper domes/molds and programming. This can probably be said for most modern aids though.

I really like the way my 9’s work on phone callls… It is VERY clear on my end and I have been asking all my callers if I sound OK and they all say it is just fine. I also love the way it plays music and radio. But best of all it has reduced my tinnitus about 75 to 95% most of the time - and that is NICE. I have the power domes with the umbrella on the end and it seems to really work.

In fact, am going to test the Marvel (M90 With 312 battery) tomorrow for a while and will try not to use the phone app other than volume & program change. If am fine with it, this is indication KS9 will do the job.

That is great to hear… a friend called me with the ks9 and when I talked I heard my voice a little but she said she had it on a table near her… Also I wasn’t using hearing aids but just a wired earbud to the iphone to be handsfree in car… Great about the tinnitus as I have that and the starkey is supposed to help with that… When I asked the costco guy he said that means they put in a frequency to mask it… he said that the ks9 can be adjusted a bit for that but awesome if out of box that is good. I go Monday so not sure what the domes are but hopefully I will get those.

If your friend was using KS9, her voice was being picked up by the . Phone proximity only affects Bluetooth connection. When I use KS9 for phone it works great, both ends. But if there is someone, let’s say, at the same table speaking on their phone, the KS9s can pick up their voice too, making it difficult for the person you’re calling to hear you. My tinnitus has almost disappeared with KS9. I guess if I wanted more relief, I coul play one of the better tinnitus apps through the phone. I think tinnitus is our brain compensating for high frequency loss. The HAs may provide the frequencies, and the tinnitus can improve, or disappear. Good luck!

Jackster thanks for your comments. My friend was in her home using her phone that was on her table with Bluetooth… I was in my car and not using aids but just a wired headset without bluetooth… I heard my own voice I think possibly because her volume on her hearing aids was high… not sure if that’s right… her voice didn’t echo… When you say your ks works great do you mean both and without bluetooth turned on… Interesting on tinnitus… I have mostly mid range hearing loss but probably every frequency has loss…

Yes… phone calls work great for me. Also audio streaming, if I want it. Haven’t felt the need for any additional programs beyond automatic. Sounds can be a little tinny…but I’m am a new user… not sure if this is normal. But I’m pleased and very happy with Costco Audi He’s the manager, 10 yrs. with them. I sort of would have wanted rechargeable… but happy with batteries. I travel a lot… easy to buy batteries anywhere… hate to think forgetting the charger. Overall, very pleased.
