sounds like you may need a program for each. My Oticon OPN1 aids do a good job of switching for environment changes, but that can only go so far. My aids are only about 18 months old and I complain about them not being loud enough, and when I turn the volume up they will feedback very easily. I get my aids from the VA and normally only get new aids every 4 to 5 years. But my Audi is committed to get me new aids this summer, due to the fact my aids cannot be set to full prescription target. It seems that my left aid is not sealing that great and it gets feedback easier than the right which is my worse ear. While I love my ITE aids, I am willing and ready for a BTE hearing aids with ear molds, or maybe Rite aids with ear molds, as long as they can be set to full prescription now, and adjusted as my hearing gets worse. All I am asking for is the moon I guess, but I want the have the best speech understand that is possible my my hearing loss.

Are you switching to the Moments or OPN S?

It depends on my Audi but I have the feeling it will be the OPNS1 aids seeing I have the connectclip, TV and home phone adapters. I have laid my requirements out to him this way. 1. I want to understand speech the very best possible. 2. I want t-coils this time. 3. I prefer size 13 batteries this time or rechargeables. I am tired of the short battery life of size 312 batteries, due to the full connectivity now days.

Home phone adapter is something I think I’m going to need, not sure if Moment HA have this yet though. Right now I can hear some folks by switching the office land line phone to speaker and hold the speaker right above the aid. Some voices or some days this doesn’t work.

That’s awesome! I felt that way with my Evoke 440’s also but they had been fine tuned during an office visit with audi but my new Moments were programmed by my audi as best she thought she could then left in the office for me to come by and pick up. We tried remote link and couldn’t get it to work. So I’m still waiting for an in person office visit to fine tune these Moments. I think when that happens, these will just be amazing! I’ve already proven they’re practically bulletproof! And I love putting them on a charger at end of day and not having to change batteries every 3-5 days.

Sounds very exciting and I am sure they will be amazing! How long do they take to charge & are they rechargeable in ITE options or is that for RIC and BTE? Is the charger easy to travel with? Since the Evokes I love travelling around on public transport. All those announcements that used to be so hard to hear just materialised as if by magic! I am glad they are trying to get you set up but I am sure once the initial fit is done in person you will get them just right for you.

Here is the charger. Just drop them in. Doesn’t matter which side. I’m not sure how long, I want to think it said either 2 or 4 hrs. But they last me all day even with streaming all calls and music. The little thing toward the back flips over to cover the charging slots to protect them. I’m pretty sure they just do the RICs in rechargeable.

I’ve been wearing the moments for about a month now. My ears have settled down enough to go back to Audi for my second visit. She UNLEASHED the Moment’s. At the first fitting she programmed a music mode which was wide open with no compression or filters. This ended up being my go to mode for conversation as long as there wasn’t to much surrounding noise. I could understand speech much better in music mode. She was surprised by that. She said for first time aid wearers she always pulls the tuning down with lots of compression and filtering so the wearer is not overwhelmed but I couldn’t understand speech in those modes very well at all.

She worked with me for about two hours with good results. My speech understanding is 75% better in all modes she set up. She removed “pure mode” after I told her it wasn’t as good for me as the “universal mode” she setup. She thought my kind of hearing loss just wasn’t helped by “pure”.

On the way home, for the first time in a long time the music in the truck actually sounded like music. I even had to turn the bass down some on the radio from where I had it set on the way there. The bass was full and deep. Some of the high notes I haven’t heard in years. It was great to once again hear music the way I remembered.

Now if we can get the speech understanding tuned in as good as the music, I will be very excited.

Tinny sounds like a programming issue as the Widex Evokes have every capability to sound great. Feedback is given maximum efficiency from a really good fit. For me the ric F2 would be fine for feedback (get a custom tip-almost invisible and much better sound quality than anything readily available) or getting the slightly bigger custom Evoke which fills the ear canal and reduces possible feedback. The higher the specification the higher level of possibilities & intelligence in your hearing.

WOW ! ! I’m so happy for you reaching that point and Im so sympathize with your fillings before using Moment !! Driving home and turnning the music on … that the ultimate test for me . Next week Ill try to book an appointment with audiologic whom import WIDEX . My current (almost 6 years now) pair have only few channels so simple so good WIDEX MIND 220 !! music sound great and smooth bass is bass and distortion is distortion . Please keep sharing you experiance with the Moments thanks - Yochai

Something that I think is worth mentioning that I thought was really cool with Widex, is how audi can keep track of everything I do with the HAs. All EQ, volume and custom programs I do and even what kid of environment I’m in when I do it. I didn’t have to tell her much, she already knew, which I would think that should help a lot. All software for major brands may do this, I don’t know.

I do know she made major improvements with my second visit. I was in some noisy situations this weekend with family, friends and kids and thought I did very well. Even some of my family commented on how well they thought I was hearing. Still have some work to do but I have much more confidence in getting HAs tuned to help with my poor word recognition.

She mentioned when I first arrived that she wanted me to try the OPN1 while I was there to see if I could tell a difference but after tuning on the moments she decided I should wait a little longer and I agreed.

Vogon - a few months ago you were excited about testing new Widex Moment aids but had to wait for power receiver replacements. Since then “nothing”. If your still around did you decide to keep the new “moment” aids or did they not work out? Your last post mentions “feedback” issues which can be a deal killer.

Does anyone know if they are coming out with a BTE or mini-BTE for the moments? I am looking to replace my current hearing aids with the moments next year June. So far I only see the RICs.

Boy - Widex “moment” is really pushing the envelope here. And of course how can a first time user of hearing aid(s) know if the moment aid sounds like a hearing aid or not? Come on.

Next sales pitch will be “XXX hearing aid now provides better hearing than a normal human ear”. So if you have normal hearing - you need this state of the art XXX hearing aid. Talk about “spin”.
