Thanks Raudrive, and yep there is a bunch of info out there. Seems sav has been around for a while. If ones canal is large enough that seems to be the safe way to go if someone is unsure about occlusion.

Audi emailed and said “she set up for an audiologist from Widex to remote in and work with us on my session next Tuesday”. She just hasn’t been able to get that vibration/distortion sound out of voices so I guess she called in for reinforcements. If I didn’t have the OPN’s for comparison I would think it was my hearing causing it.

That will be good, it might help to make a little list of your observations as I often find I am likely to forget something that may be key. How it feels in your ear, do you need to push it or touch it frequently, describing as best you can how it sounds and what sound situations make it worse. I would imagine it is partly linked to position, it may be a good idea to take pictures of the aid and how it sits in your ear & email to dispenser. She can then forward to Widex audiologist for input. Let us know how you get on. You can also state you are keen to try custom and is that recommended, also input on venting.

I posted earlier In the thread that the moments could be programmed for the button to be volume or program select. I have installed Compass GPS sw and been poking around and looks to me the buttons can only be program change or preference control. PC adjust the hearing aid sound processing.
Can anyone confirm this? I need a volume control button.

preference control.
Preference control is volume, up for right and down for left, you can most likely choose which side to increase volume, this is for widex Evoke.

I am trialing Moments right now also. My program allows volume control with one short touch (right is louder, left is softer) and a long press changes to the next program.
I had my audi change a setting, it’s something like a combo setting.

@DaninSD. How long have you trialed the Widex Moments? Please pop back in w/ updates on how you like I’m going to trial Moments, I think in a few weeks hopefully. What are you upgrading from, or are these your first?

Went back to audi this morning and she had a Widex audi remote in on the fitting. Final conclusion is… I need custom molds. I was told that here on HT with my first post by several knowledgeable members. They tuned on them for about an hour with double domes and they still didn’t clear up voices as good as OPN’s. Audi had already talked to Widex about custom domes and both Widex and Oticon will spring for the molds for the trial.
So, audi took an impression and if moments are better with molds, I will get molds for OPN and then start the 45 day trial. I think I have a wonderful audi, maybe not the most knowledgeable, especially with Widex, but very much caring and up for the challenge to get me to better hearing. Also not afraid to admit she doesn’t know everything, proved that by calling in for help from Widex and the Widex audi taught her a few things during the session.

Something else I want to add. I told the audi after wearing one pair of aids for a while they seemed to get less clear as time went on to the point I couldn’t understand conversation. I would switch to the other pair, right out of the charger, and they would be much better. Didn’t matter which pair, just switching to the second pair would always be better. She said what was probably happening was the aids learning ability were making changes throughout the day.
I guess and the aids ability to analyze surroundings aren’t working for me, if this is what it really is. She said her and the Widex audi had talked about lowering the moments learning ability already because whenever I make changes in the app (even if I’m just experimenting) the aid will think this is what I want and adapt.

Next Wednesday I will be able to trial Widex Moments while my Signia Pure 13 (3 yrs old) are going through a 3yr warranty overhaul check up. I’m excited to try them. Any special things I should try and pay attention to?

Just make sure they enable “pure sound” as one of the programs. My audi wasn’t going to until I mentioned it. As it turned out pure sound wasn’t as good as the universal she set up for my type of hearing loss.

For me, I like the Pure Sound much better than the standard Universal setting, even after a second fitting. Universal is getting closer but still has way too much background noise brought it. I’ll work on that in future fittings.
In the meantime, I’m trying to decide if I want to use Pure Sound as my default program and wonder what the downside is?

@Sequoia_Woman I do like the Widex Moments. I’m coming from Widex Uniques (three generations back). In general, I think Widex sound similar with very natural sound. However, I’m not totally convinced. I just had two other couples over in my backyard (socially distanced about 8 feet apart) and had a number of the conversations jumbled together. I expected they would behave significantly better than my Uniques but that didn’t seem to be the case. I tried “SoundSense Learn” and it didn’t improve much.
I am 3 weeks into a 60 day trial. I will probably try Oticons (like @tim4) to see how they feel. It’s been years since I tried another brand.
Another note is that I have Android. I plan to get an iPhone in November. I tried connecting the HAs to my wife’s iPhone and never realized how much better it is. It’s seamless. The Android experience with Widex using a COM-DEX is terrible since I want to stream phone calls and music. Frequently, sound will cut out if I get a text message. Then it will state the current program. By the time it’s done with that cycle, 4-5 seconds have gone by and I’ve missed part of a conversation. The iPhone doesn’t do any of this.

Thank you. Your update and info is helpful. A 60 day trial period is great. I’m lol as my Audi said 2 weeks, which is not enough time to trial your environment w/ new - I don’t think.

Well she may be thinking only 2 weeks as she is loaning these to me as I am sending in my Signia firmthere 3 yr warranty checkup.
. She knows I’m thinking of upgrading. She will not be the Audi I stay with. She is not proactive to help her patients/customers. It is sad.

@tim4 I have a correction to make on this from the manual regarding Preference Control.
A short key press on the right hearing aid button adjusts the sound in both hearing aids towards more audibility and intelligibility. A short key press on the left hearing aid button adjusts the sound in both hearing aids towards more comfort and less audibility.
