Bluetooth Low Energy Audio vs. ASHA

Hi!

Some hearing aids manufacturs still use Bluetooth for streaming even though the -audio was realesed in january this year.

Does anyone know the diffrence between those certificates? Is it better to wait for audio?

I’m guessing you’re talking about the Codec which will require Bluetooth 5.2?
You can search for those terms on the forum and find many threads. Currently there is one hearing aid that MIGHT be compatible (Resound One) and no phones. It’s anybody’s guess how soon this will become available. Next year at the earliest and quite conceivably 2022. Current options are 1) Made for iPhone hearing aid and any somewhat recent iPhone 2) hearing aid (recent models of Resound and Starkey hearing aids) and an ASHA compatible phone (largely Pixel 3 and later and recent Samsung phones) and 3)Phonak Marvel and Paradise hearing aids–largely compatible with iPhones (although does not work as "Made for iPhone) and Android phones. Compatibility is complicated. Confirm it works before commiting.

Smartphones with a Snapdragon 865+ will probably be able to use BLEA:

I recently spoke to the Oticon support and they said they will release something that will enable direct streaming for android users. But it is not clear if that will be a firmware update or a completely new product

Just going from experience. This stuff takes way longer than anybody expects. Bluetooth 5 came out in 2016. Many of us thought that would make a difference. It’s 2020 and nothing. To boot the standard is not completely finalized.

I have the INTENT1 aids and Samsung s23 phone. My aids comnect directly to my phone by way of le audio. I can stream directly to my aids from my phone I also have full hands free calls. And I can stream 3 to 5 hours and still get ovet 20 hours out of my rechargeable hearing aid batteries

if anyone is using le audio, can they please make a video/sort on connecting to , how the ha (in bluetooth settings, android) look as well as the audio format (classic bluetooth vs blea)?
