Here’s some information on what the various sliders/controls in the myPhonak app do. This info was provided to my audiologist via Phonak.
Hope this helps!
- Clarity – this makes speech more intelligible and aims to pick up those important speech frequencies
- Comfort – this program is designed for noisy environments where the focus isn’t on speech, but simply making the sound more comfortable
- Noise Reduction – Moving the slider right increases the ‘NoiseBlock’ feature within the hearing aids, while decreasing the slider to the left will decrease the strength to off.
- Speech Focus – This changes the directionality of the microphones. Moving the slider to the right changes the mic mode to make the hearing aid microphones directional (a feature called UltraZoom), which emphasises picking up sounds from directly in front of you. Moving the slider to the left increases the ability for you to hear sounds all around you.
- Dynamic – moving the slider to the right increases your ability to hear soft sounds (i.e. a quiet talker). Moving the slider to the left will then decrease loud sounds (for example if you wanted to reduce the volume of a loud talker, or you were in a loud environment)
