Streaming issues with Spotify

Hi. New member here. Just purchased Phonak Paradise P90 -312. Initial reaction is love, love, love them. However looking for feedback on issue with streaming Spotify via Samsung phone. Bluetooth functionality is great. When sitting at home streaming music the reception is clear and of good quality. However once I leave home and go for my exercise walk the stream breaks up continuously to the point where it is unbearable. This is my first experience with Bluetooth functionality, I usually use headphone ear buds for Spotify, with excellent results using same phone. So I am assuming my Paradise Bluetooth connection is being interrupted either by phone movement whilst walking, or some environmental or technical issue. Wondering if this is a common issue?

Thanks Sundance. I dont have this problem when listening with corded ear buds, only through bluetooth hearing aids, but I will give it a try anyway. Cheers Steve

That’s because Bluetooth is bouncing off the walls when you are home. When you are outside, there are no walls for the signal to bounce off so the signal isn’t as good.

Are you experiencing the same issue if you use Youtube Music; SiriusXM; Music Choice; etc etc.

I’ve always used Samsung phones and never had a problem with previous generations of Phonak; Marvel 70s and Lumity 90s.

I am having minor issues with the bluetooth with current Infinio 90-Spheres. This has been reported across several platforms. Hoping for a software update from Phonak.

Best I could suggest is ensure your hearing aids have the current rev of software. This has to be updated by your audiologist.

I have Starkey Edge with a Pixel 6a.
I really do not have streaming problems.
I do not use Spotify.
Refuse to pay for stuff like that.
When I walk in the park the phone is in my pants pocket three feet from my aids.
I have no problems.
The only time I have problems is in the house when I go down the hall to the left. Corner wall there.
If you search the site you’ll find that each phone and hearing aid reacts differently with Bluetooth.
There really is no one solution.

Daily Phonak + Spotify user here, but with iPhone. I too experience occasional bluetooth signal dropoff when outside (not just overwhelming ambient sound competing with the stream comparing to closed fitting earbuds).

I find that simply changing pockets can improve the signal to my , and making sure anything else in the pocket with my phone (keys, spare change, etc) is on the inside (body-side) rather than out side interfering with the signal. Shirt pockets closer to HAs than pants pockets seem to give more consistent performance too.

Not related to your Bluetooth issue, and not knowing your fitting, but generally I’ve gotten far better streaming sound by moving from open domes to power domes for a more closed acoustic coupling, by changing the Ambient sound slider in the MyPhonak app’s Bluetooth Streaming program, and from tweaking the e.q. within Spotify’s settings.

[Just realized this is an old thread in origin. Advice still holds for anyone else experiencing the OP’s issue :roll_eyes:]

Within the Spotify app (on iPhone at least):
Click your user ID icon to get to Settings.
Settings —> Playback, then scroll down to Equalizer. This brings up a six-band equalizer. Not much granularity, but better than MyPhonak’s three-band. You can slide the bands up or down to change the graphic EQ curve. I found this helpful to improving the sound of streamed music and overcoming the limitations of an open fitting for that.

Access might be slightly different from a computer but changes you make on one are “global” to your user ID - they apply however you access. Good luck!

Should add that I don’t pay for Spotify and the equaliser is still available.

Moving the dots up or down changes the gain/volume for those frequencies.

I’m not sure, but I presume that other streaming services have similar settings available. And changing the EQ “at the source” - before it hits your processors - can really improve how streamed music sounds in a HA environment.
