Hello! I am about to buy a new pair of hearing aids, and I have decided to go for Widex Moment 440 after trialing Widex Evoke 220 RIC for two weeks, and then Widex Moment 440 RIC for another two weeks (both with M receiver). I have decided on the Moments because they seems to sit more comfortably on my ear.
Here is the problem: it seems that when there is a high pitch sound, where there are words with letter I in them, or at the sound of an ambulance or police siren, or loud volume the sound in my right hearing aids gets distorted, it screeching and uncomfortable. This does not happen with the left hearing aid.
I have to admit that this also happened when I demoed the Moments, however it was not that intense as it is now. I’ve demoed the moment with the round (one vent) silicone dome, and the one that I have now has a custom mould because the silicone dome was uncomfortable and itchy in my ear but it seems that the screeching got worse (I also hoped that it would go away with the custom moulds).
What is weird is that I don’t recall to have had this issue with the Evoke 220 which I have also worn with a round silicone dome. I also feel that I could hear better in noisy environments with the Evokes, however they didn’t feel as comfortable behind the ear.
Now I don’t really know what is happening, the audiologist couldn’t fix this problem and doesn’t know where that comes from.
After looking through the forum I think it might be entrainment but from what I’ve read that happened with older hearing aid models.
My old hearing aids are Unique 440, and I remember my audiologist telling me one time that the audibility function is turned on, or off, can’t remember exactly.
Could there be a solution to this? I’m a bit worried, I think that I should have taken the Evokes instead…
Thanks!
