For a first pair of hearing aids, I do not feel capable of adjusting the devices myself… Hence also my post… If there are French-speaking people near me who could initiate me to these adjustments…

@dantoul: As long as you have the additional equipment and software that is necessary, there’s a whole Discussion section on this forum about Hearing Aid Self-adjustment:
I suggest you navigate to this part of the Forum to see whether or not you can obtain the information you require using your online translator.

Il n’y a pas de quoi. Be brave and take your courage from <l’esprit de corps> here on the Forum.
There are many DIYers (Do It Yourself people) who I’m certain will help you. This would give you greater autonomy and result in better performance from your hearing prosthetics.

How much does your mutual fund reimburse?
There are two brands that sell class 2 to 1190 hearing aids: Unisson and Vivason. Unisson markets all the brands, but there are few centers in France. Vivason is the reverse. And hearing care professionals are competent. You don’t necessarily have to go to Costco.

I mean 1190€ for hearing aids. I think it’s a good price. As regards myself, I went to Unisson to renew my hearing aids.

Audéo 70 PR devices are worth € 1,400 each, and my mutual (and not the investment fund) reimburses € 750
In Toulouse Unisson does not exist and Vivason does not sell the phonaks which are, for me, the most practical for Apple connections (iphone and computer)

This is my first pair of hearing aids. I prefer an audiprothesist near my home (already 6 weeks of successive adjustments … Do you adjust your devices yourself?

Regarding the tuning, until now it was the hearing care professional who did it, but I had the opportunity to try a new model of Resound, and I only had to send an email to the hearing care professional, who sent the new parameters file to the application, and I installed the new setting via bluetooth. No need to go to the audio department, especially since I am very busy with my work, and the opening hours are the same as mine.

dantoul, i have trialed Phonak Paradise and Resound One, and i disagree what Phonak is the best for iOS devices. For me, it is definitively Resound One is the best, since it doesn’t require to install an app to pair hearings aids with the device and change setting on my hearings aids. And since it is device, i can change the voulme and the program directly from the lockscreen via accessibility shortcut. This way, i don’t even use buttons on hearing aids to change settings, it is easier and faster to do it on my iphone.
Plus, i found out what Phonak Paradise can handle just fine several devices at once, like iphone and ipad, so i don’t have to manually disable bluetooth on one device, so my hearing aids connects with another. But it doesn’t work so great with iphone and macbook running on macos. It won’t reconnect to macbook, unless i will repair them again and again. But it works just fine with macbook that runs windows. So the issue must be with macos.

Fete, thank you for your comments. Following Val’s remarks, I contacted Vivason for the Blue resound which are also remote adjustable, MFI …
I have a macbook air M1 so I think it must be able to work.
In fact I discovered that today many platforms (siemens, resound…) use the same system as phonak (remote settings, multi connectivity…). I made an appointment with Vivason on Monday morning (they have low prices…).

Well, I went to see Vivason … The equivalent of the P70 PR phonak is the resound one, sold at 1700 € each. 1400 € for the phonak …
But the settings of my phonak remain of poor quality. Less metallic noise, but a quality that still hisses …
I remain skeptical …

Dantoul, Vivason is not expensive, but Unisson even less. In addition, Unison markets all the brands, and I think there must be several that can be adjusted remotely. As far as I’m concerned, I made 3 quotes at Unisson, and they are all at 1190 € for the top of the range.

Val, here in Toulouse, Vivason does not do phonak … For my first hearing aids, I prefer a store nearby …
Yesterday, I forgot to put them on. I was astonished not to hear some dialogues anymore during a market … I am really happy to be equipped … I got used well, and my devices are now pretty much fine tuned …
I still hesitate to equip myself to solve them myself …
Are you equipped to do it?

Hello Dantoul, no I do not adjust the devices myself. You have to buy the hardware to connect it to the computer, and that costs too much. I limit myself to changing the programs with the application or with the hearing aid settings of my iPhone. Currently I am trying Oticon More, but I think I will orient myself more towards Phonak or Starkey, they are adjustable remotely by the hearing care professional. And Starkey’s app is really good.
