NOAHLink and Instrument Software and Firmware Updates

I used the NOAHLink for the first time yesterday. After having it be found by Genie2 and connecting to my OPN1s, I was not able to check if there were software and firmware updates as those commands were not functional. Nor did I receive and spontaneous notice that there were new updates available as was indicated a couple of years ago with my Hi-Pro. Am I correct that there are no updates? My mobile app indicates that I have Firmware version 6.1. Cannot find a software version.

Try connecting your OPN S directly to your HiPro to check, but what update are you expecting?
Why do you need to update the firmware, is there something you are not getting with the current firmware that you are using.

As for the Genie software, what version are you using, I see the latest software is 2020 2.1

I’m new at this, also. Today, though, I was reading the Noahlink manual. It seems to be saying that if it doesn’t ask for an update when you connect your aids none is necessary. Updates only enable connections to newer aids.

Are you talking about software or firmware? If firmware not quite, they do sometimes fix known bugs or to give improvements in the latest and some older models with updates.

That Noahlink website refers primarily to updating your Noahlink wireless firmware not your hearing aid firmware. Connect your Noahlink to your computer via USB then run the Noahlink Wireless Firmware Upgrader program. It should connect to your Noahlink and tell you whether or not it needs upgrading. If the status says “Upgraded” your Noahlink already has the latest firmware. If not, you are given the option to upgrade by selecting the “Upgrade” button. This is different then checking for updates to your hearing aids which is done in your fitting software.

I think it’s very confusing, but as I understand it, there’s an ancient interface called the NOAHlink (all capital NOAH), which is not the same and is much older than the newer NoahLink Wireless (only capital N in Noah, with the word Wireless following the name). So I assume that the OP was talking about the OLD NOAHLink, while you’re (@joel_n) talking about the newer NoahLink Wireless, which are 2 different devices.

My understanding of NOAH is that it is for professionals to maintain client data.
We as self programmers need to leave that alone, stay away from it because it will confuse you.

As mentioned, we use the Noahlink Wireless, HiPro and other devices to communicate with our aids. Using proper terminology for these devices is important for others to read and understand what you are talking about.
