I have a Rogers easy pen and table top mic from work but I am looking to change my heating aids to the Oticon S or More (trialing the S at the moment) I cannot seem to find anywhere which shows/explains how I connect the roger receiver to the Oticon hearing aids! Previously I had shoes for my resound and the 3 pin receivers fitted! Just struggling to find shoes for the potential new heating aids! If anyone has any photos of the Oticon heating aids with the roger receiver plugged in this would be useful to See how big it is also any feedback on performance would be appreciated!
I don’t think you can. I think the only way that would work would be if you could plug a Roger X receiver into an auxillary device (like Connect Clip or EduMic, but I don’t know if that would work) Your audiologist should be able to check with Oticon to find out if there is any way to make this work.
I think the Oticon EduMic has an audio jack input. If the Rogers mic has an audio jack output, then if can be plugged into the EduMic. Unlike the EduMic, the ConnectClip does have an audio jack input. But both of them can be used in the Remote Mic mode capacity. I just don’t know how well they pick up compared to a Rogers mic, though.
Was able to confirm that Roger X Receiver can be used with EduMic. Of course the Roger devices would work a lot easier with Phonak Paradise hearing aids.

Nope, just input afaik. It goes through microusb, so only hole on roger mic is usb hole, no audio holes at all.
Another way would be to get with t-coil and then use roger my link around the neck.
However, I finally tried t-coil in my phonak aids and I got some pretty decent and expensive neckloop, and sound is just bad. Not even close to sounds I get from roger mics or direct streaming. Mostly because of a constant noise cause by all electrical wires, I just can’t hear what I want properly because of that. However, could be poor phonak t-coil version.
I tried it on the bus and just had to pull it out after several seconds, was unbearably loud and couldn’t hear a thing on the phone call I’ve used to test the functionality.
I must say that I don’t know where t-coils would work without insane buzzing in today’s world. Some members have good experience, so you might test it for yourself.
AFAIK ‘boot options’ where you change battery doors for another one which have that 3 pin hole is available only on big aids, so most of UP models have that and some of classic . Also BTE processors.
I tried to find a way to see if any other aid would financially work for me and with roger mics, but after intensive research concluded that it would be significantly more expensive IF it’s possible to do it at all but with inferior solution for sound quality/lag/latency. For aids, such boots just don’t exist (at least for the manufacturers in which I was interested in, like latest starkey, oticon before more, resound).
So I didn’t even try other aids, since I really really wanted and like roger select mic. And I wanted RIC.
So even though there are some general options and phonak roger claims compatibility with many aids, in practice sound quality is, from best to worst:
phonak aids with direct option (marvel, paradise)
any aid which can have boot option (since then roger X can be directly plugged in)
any aid which have some external device in which you can plug in roger X, and that device uses wifi transfer to the aids (here you have more lag because you have two ‘wifi through air’ travels - between mic and roger and between that intermediary device and HAs)
any tcoil solutions, and I dare to say mylink from roger might be here, but I didn’t test it, so take that with the grain of salt
In general, my conclusion is that roger mics aren’t THAT portable to other manufacturers, and all manufacturers have own closed solutions
Basically they lock you in with their mics if you don’t have money to spend on both new aid AND new mics if you want the best solution from the point of sound quality.
Assuming that they indeed have external mic that is of equal quality.

If I’m not mistaken, this approach is less expensive than going ‘boot’ route, since for boots you need 2x roger X and 2x boots, while for edumic you just need one roger x and that’s it.
Also, @jason.wgnr I just remembered the term - DAI input for those 3 pins on roger X
DAI = direct audio input
And full name of those boots is either DAI boots or DAI shoes.
I can confirm that the EduMic will work with a Roger X receiver. I have just got Access to Work (UK thing) to fund it a long with the Roger On which is on back order.
Not 100% sure, if the EduMic will work with all Oticon hearing aids tho.
By plugging it (being the Roger X) in to the port on the EduMic. I haven’t got the equipment yet but I’m guessing the EduMic links to my Oticon hearing aids, a bit like the ConnectClip?
A bit to add, I’m also guessing that I can use the EduMic as a microphone on occasions that I don’t need the Roger equipment.
@williamshetty: I have both ConnectClip and EduMic, and use them both as remote mics in similar situations. They both do a decent job, but I like the sound of EduMic better for listening to TV with my wife (my eyes are perfect, for the watching part!).
The ConnectClip is a smaller unit that is also a remote, which is very handy. OTOH, the EduMic has a 3/8" plug that allows me to plug into multiple audio sources. Also handy.
What I intensely dislike is the fact that neither permits battery replacement, which is stupid for a multi-generational product.

Same here. Maybe it’s not a stupid decision but a calculated decision to force people to buy the whole replacement and not just battery replacement.
I’ve bought a couple of spare batteries for my ConnectClip from eBay. So I’m ready for when its battery fails. Yeah I’d have to pry it open and resort to soldering, but they’re not getting another dime out of me for another new ConnectClip.

Does connectclip has this connector like edumic has on the pic above? I guess not, but just to make sure?
@williamshetty yes, it’s a mic, of course you can use it as such
However, my guess is that it’s probably lapel mic, judging form the clip, so needs to be close to the mouth of speaker (on shirt), while roger select works from the table, for example.
Of course, I’d expect this edumic also ‘works’ from the table, it just picks more surrounding sounds as well.
No, @Blacky, there are no external connections to the ConnectClip other than the mini-USB for charging, and I think for receiving firmware updates.
I have not had the opportunity to use it as a table mic, but it probably wouldn’t do so well: its internal mic array is quite directional, and it would definitely pick up extraneous, higher-frequency noise
(such as scrunching paper, chairs sliding, glasses clinking, etc.).
[BTW, thanks for all your great posts. I’ve learned a great deal from them since I joined!]
