Hi
Smart Fit detect the Hearing aid, but when we click on continue to fit the it couldn’t connect to the instrument (I stopped the bluetooth and reboot the hearing aid). I’ve tried many times and different kinds of resound hearing aids.
What is the exact model from ReSound you are trying to connect?
You need to make sure that you have fully charged batteries as well, otherwise you can lose connection.
Many models of resound, the battery is new, and when I click beep the hearing aid does beep, and the Smartfit recognize the instrument but when I click continue it can’t connect to it
I am not familiar with Smartfit but have a decent understanding of Target.
In Target you have programming device choices, like Noahlink Wireless or HiPro, etc. The correct one has to be selected. You can also test that device’s connection or check it for updates.
This is what I meant by setup correctly.
Ok so something else is not set up right, can you show a screen shot of when you lose connection with any error message. What version of SmartFit are you using?
As you have confirmed that they are indeed connecting when you initially start the programming season, can you confirm the green lights flash on your Noahlink when the connection is dropped?
The hearing aids you are trying to connect to must not be connected to a smartphone at the same time. So turn the Bluetooth on the smart phone off first, if this is applicable.
After SmartFit has found the hearing aids, and you try to connect, you have to restart the hearing aids. The SmartFit software should prompt you to do this, but maybe you are missing that. I think this has changed in SmartFit 1.12 as I am finding it connects without me having to restart the hearing aids since I did that update.
And another thing: You are supposed to install SmartFit first and only then plug the Noah Wireless into your PCs USB socket, so the Noah Wireless uses the right drivers which are installed by the SmartFit software.
I can’t access the original thread for some reason.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, this is what I do to connect my Resound aids to SmartFit. I have regularly connected the LINX 3D, two versions of Quattro, the Resound One and most recently the Resound Omnia.
Firstly you may need to check whether your PC will drive the NoahLink Wireless properly. Quite a few won’t. I vaguely recall it was PCs with ARM processors that won’t work with NoahLink Witeless, but you will be able to find out on the HIMSA website.
Secondly you are supposed to install SmartFit before you plug your NoahLink Wireless into the USB port on your PC because SmartFit installs the right USB drivers and otherwise your NoahLink Wireless may get associated with the wrong generic driver. If you didn’t do this then you will have to explore how you install or select the right driver. I am not a PC expert, so I can’t tell you how to do that.
Assuming you have SmartFit installed and you have now plugged in your NoahLink Wireless, you should be able to start SmartFit standalone and you get to a patients screen, which may be blank. So add yourself as a patient and save it. Then you select Fit patient. You don’t need to add an at this stage although it kind of encourages you too. But once you are connected, SmartFit works on the audiogram saved in your hearing aids.
You should now have a screen with a selection of hearing aid models listed on the left, but you don’t have to go in that way. But before you do anything, make sure that nothing is connected to your hearing aids by Bluetooth. In particular turn Bluetooth off in your phone or to be sure, turn your phone off.
Also your hearing aids mustn’t be in a charger and they must be charged or have fresh batteries. Having them turned on and on your ears is a good place for them to be!
Now you press the connect button on the screen and follow the instructions. You will probably be prompted to restart your hearing aids again, even though you probably just did that. When the NoahLink tries to connect, it should flash green and eventually it goes a solid green which means you are in.
If it won’t connect, then things to try are restarting the PC and don’t run any other programs before SnartFit. One of my old PCs often requires me to log off and then log on again before SmartFit will work properly.
I find that the NoahLink Wireless can flash quite a few times before it goes solid (I counted ten on my Omnia session a hour or so back).
You also might check that your NoahLink Wireless has up to date firmware. You can use the Noahlink Wireless updater that comes with SmartFit. Hopefully that will also confirm that your NoahLink Wireless is working properly.
Good luck! I will try to keep an eye on this thread.
I’ve been struggling with this exact same issue for months now,
For months!.. but what exactly is the issue again? If you follow @david.hendon guide you should be up and running in no time.
It’s definitely the ARM processes that NW won’t work with, also there’s win10 and 11 drivers available if that is the issue.
Good luck.
I have followed all of the steps you mentioned. When I get to the Assign Instruments step, it will see the instruments, and recognizes that they are already configured as right and left. It allows me to assign both of them, and send beeps to them. The green lights on the NoahLink Wireless never does anything more than one flash every couple of seconds. It never goes solid green. If I click Continue anyway, is goes back to the Connection screen, and gives me the connection error message. You can see screenshots from my original thread from March.
I have confirmed that the NoahLink Wireless device is on the correct firmware and the driver is also correct. All of my bluetooth devices that have ever connected to the instruments have been turned off as have all the remote control devices.
I have tried uninstalling all of the Smart Fit software, I have tried downgrading to 1.14 (and back to 1.16) when 1.14 didn’t work. I have tried two different USB cables. and even tried different Windows computers (all are Intel-based computers and not ARM). I have tried Windows 10 and Windows 11.
The frustration for me is that the Aventa 3 software will connect to my Linx2 instruments using the same NoahLink Wireless device. I can do anything I want with the Linx2 devices. My Resound ONEs just won’t get past this initial connection stage.
My hearing Resound ONEs were purchased from an authorized Resound audiologist that is local to me, so they were not previously used or sketchily sourced.
Any other ideas? Is it possible to do a factory reset on these if they won’t connect to Smart Fit? I work in technology, and that would be my next step if I could.
Thank you for any additional assistance.
I wonder whether you could take them back to the audiologist from whom you bought them and get him/her to connect them and make some trivial change (which would show that he/her could connect to them). Depending on your relationship with him/her, you could explain the problem. Maybe they could try connecting using your NoahLink Wireless. Maybe it has a fault.
It does sound to me that you are doing all the right things. You have tried on more than one PC, you have tried reinstalling SmartFit. So it’s going to be either your NoahLink Wireless that is not working properly or your hearing aids themselves have done oddity about them. It’s a matter of finding out which.
If you lived near me in the UK, you could come round here and try on my setup. Maybe there is some other user in the Community who is near enough to where you live to make the same offer.
If I click Continue anyway, is goes back to the Connection screen, and gives me the connection error message
It’s at this point you should open and close the battery door or restart them and then click continue, honestly if you’ve got this far there is nothing wrong with NW or your PC, it’s a really weird situation.
I did have an issue once with firmware on a set of ones which wouldn’t connect to the latest version of SmartFit, but when I tried a older version they connected fine.
It’s at this point you should open and close the battery door or restart them and then click continue,
I have tried that, but it just repeats the cycle.
I had tried 1.14 before. I don’t know how often that software gets updated, but my were last touches by the audiologist in fall 2022. Is 1.13 available anywhere still?
I was able to find 1.13, so I uninstalled 1.16, rebooted, and installed 1.13. With 1.13, and I am actually able to connect enough that it prompts me to read the existing data or reset them, but no matter what options I choose the result is the same. It asks a couple initial questions, says preparing the fitting, then connecting. The lights on the NoahLink Wireless flash three times, and the same connection error is shown.
I don’t know what more I can do except make an appointment with my audi, and see if I can figure it out with her (if she’ll tell me). Sigh
SmartFit 1.16 works fine with the One. You shouldn’t be messing about with old versions of the software - it’s unnecessary.
Anyway I agree go and see your audiologist is the next step, as I mentioned before.
Incidentally these are actual GN branded Ones and not the Amplifon branded equivalent? The reason I mention it is that SmartFit won’t connect to Amplifon branded hearing aids.
