Phonak Naida B50 Volume Lowering After a Charge?

I have the Phonak Naida B50 hearing aids. I have the audio hearing level OK and after I put them on charge at night the volume has lowered when using them in the AM. I have the Phonak remote and I have to reset the volume every time each morning.

Is there some built-in provision that lowers the volume to protect from excessive volume on startup?

It seems you need your Audi to program them to your preferred default volume level. Is this a recent occurrence or has it been ongoing for a while?

I can set the volume with the Phonak remote, which I do. After charging the volume is low and I have to reset it. It seems to be happening lately as I never had this problem before. Bob.

Either your hearing has changed or your are blocked.

The aids are defaulting to their normal start-up volume: any adjustment you make to them do not stay in place after a reboot cycle on the charger.

Thanks. My are not blocked. I check them every day and my ears are not waxy. Now I know that the volume resets to the normal startup volume which is what I thought. My hearing may have changed but I only have to bump up the volume one level. Bob.

I don’t know what the problem is but the wouldn’t cause it only after charging it. I’d go back to the audiologist and find out why the volume level is changing while charging

OK, thanks. I will just reset the volume myself. I did not like my audiologist. Another guy said it might automatically set the volume back to the default volume after power cycling. Bob.

Yeah except you said this is something that has only started happening recently so I’m not sure what default volume it’s returning to or why it’s suddenly happening now. I might try to find another audiologist since you’re eventually going to have to replace your current aids. It shouldn’t be hard to find one that deals with phonak

Re the receivers being blocked:

Yes, also with wax sitting in the receiver port beyond the wax trap, the client increases the volume during use and when they return the unit to it’s base the aid defaults to its normal level.

I think the clue here is when you say the aids return to the default settings. This is the setting the audi programmed into the aid based on your . I know on non rechargeable aids when you open and close the battery door the aids return to the default settings. I assume rechargeables do the same, for convenience and safety. I don’t know how old your aids are. But it’s not unusual at the start for the brain to adjust to the to the increased volume and you need to have the aids tweeked a bit. Or it could also be an indication that your hearing is getting worse. I think they’ll always return to default unless you return to the audiologist to have them reprogrammed,which you don’t want to do. So I think like you said you’re probably stuck increasing the volume manually. Which isn’t ideal especially if your hearing is deteriorating. I’m pretty sure the my phonak app will not retain the settings for those particular aids.

Thanks. I don’t wear them all day. My hearing without them has not changed. It’s just that when I do put them on a one step increase in volume is required. I don’t know if it’s normal for the aids to return to the default volume after a power recycle. Someone else said that. Bob…

Yes it’s normal for the volume to revert to where your Audi has set it every time you put them in the charger.

My Aids volume revert to what Audi has set them as.
