Why would hearing aid wearers use headphones?

Thanks for the tip - I’ll give it a try. I’m pretty sure the KS10’s aren’t compatible with the Activevent. I asked my Costco Tech and she didn’t know, but I think I read somewhere that they’re not. After reading reviews about people complaining about a loud click when the Activevent receiver switches from open to closed position and back I’m not sure I’d be happy with them. Apparently when you stream music they switch to the closed position, but whenever a notification comes in for some reason they switch to open, then back to closed. That’s just what I read, I have no personal experience with them. Regardless for the price of a couple foam earplugs I think I’ll stay with the KS10’s and keep a few thousand bucks in my pocket.

Would love to upgrade to Paradise, but not interested in shelling out another $6.5k so soon after the previous purchase
You can get them now from Costco, there called KS10, only $1500.

$1399.99 in the US. You scared me, I thought the price had gone up! (Assuming you don’t need molds created for you, I guess.)

Yeah that’s a fair distance, still a fair amount of savings as well, with a bit of it could work out as being worthwhile.

I only wear one after SSHL a few years ago. Left ear is severe in higher frequencies. Right ear works like a charm. I always switch to my AirPod pros as every chance possible. You can load your into your iPhone, and the AirPods actually amplify the frequencies you don’t hear as well in. When I’m wearing my AirPods, I forget that I have any hearing loss at all.
I also do this for work calls. Remove HA, pop in AirPods that are connected to my computer, participate in the call. When the call is done, revert back to HA.

FWIW … I wear Phonak M90’s and use the feature to answer my phone. I also use Treks conduction headphones linked to my laptop while at the local coffee house so as not to disturb those near me. The M90’s pair with two devices, but actually connect to only one device at a time. Since I’m limited to only one connected device, the conduction headphones allow my ’s to remain in place and connected to my phone should I receive a call. I then don’t have to scramble to switch from headphones to HA’s. So far, this configuration has suited my needs and functions well.

I use a gaming headset for all my online meetings. First of all, it provides much better bass than streaming via the . Secondly, I have nice equalizer controls, so that I can find tune to the current speaker. The sound spectrum of different speakers in online meetings is very different due to the different types of headsets people are using, different room reverb, different voices, different connection quality. The equalizer is a really big help with this. I use large over ear caps to fit the HA, turning the HA volume down slightly to prevent feedback.

APM worked surprisingly well for me too — until I discovered hi-res lossless.
I demo’d the Focal Bathys using the direct USB-C DAC, and it was a revelation. That led me down the rabbit hole into proper audiophile gear: desktop DAC/amp, Audeze LCD-X (open-back planars), and custom EQ based on my hearing profile. For classical and jazz, the difference is enormous — far more natural, detailed, and spacious than anything I can get from my Phonak I90 Spheres (even with the new Ultra firmware).
Now I’m the guy who spends hundreds on balanced OCC/silver cables when I used to think $20 headphones were enough. Movies and dialogue sound great too. Once I heard what real cans can do, there was just no going back.

You lost me there!! Wire is wire, the $25 copper cable will give you the same results. The rest is placebo, and fancy looking connectors.

An update to my posting back in 2022.
I upgraded to Sennheiser HD6xx headphones which improved the sound I hear and added in a Parametric equaliser to help compensate for gaps in my hearing. Music is now lots, lots better compared to listening on my hearing aids (Widex Moments) - forgot to say I always take my hearing aids out before putting on the Sennheiser headphones.

Yes! the 6XX is premium at bargain pricing. How did you get them in NZ? Was shipping expensive?
I wear mine over my Oticon Intents, and really don’t require EQ with my custom music program.

Oh, OK, I was wondering how you’d have purchased direct from Drop.
I noticed on the amazon au website when I searched for the HD 650, it only shows the HD 6XX.
Thanks.
Amazon usa has the 650 for $460usd right now!! Drop has the 6XX on sale for $179usd from $219.
I can never understand why people buy the 650, if they can get the 6XX.
