Then main benefit is the faster connection to the HAs. If you you use the old app I would install the new one. I think there is nothing you will loose.

Not all Phonak aids monitor health-related stuff, so I assume that the app. is not going to display it if you have those aids.

I’d guess that glasses with built-in hearing aids are going to cost more than either separately.

Hmmmmm… verrrry interesting. I had completely written off any annoying, nagging, controlling phone app, but I can actually see the VALUE of this very function. In fact, I have a follow-up with my audi at which I was going to tell her to turn OFF all ambient sound when I’m streaming with the Phonak TV Connector. That way, I get MUCH better audio through my streaming and can hear the movie.

As it is now, ambient noise is ON, so I hear my hubs asking me a question, but there is a split-second delay from the TV’s soundbar AND my streaming audio. It gives the entire movie a very annoying echo factor that makes dialogue MUCH harder to understand.

I dunno. Is having a phone app downloaded and tracking me every minute worth just that ability to turn ON/OFF ambient noise when streaming? I don’t have grandkids, but it is annoying to have to take my aids out of streaming mode, answer my hubs, then cycle through to the streaming program again.

Interesting! All these years with my Marvels (and now my Lifes) I’ve always hit the TOP of the button and that would take me out of streaming with the TV Connector instantly and altogether. Then to get back into streaming mode, I’d have to cycle through the default, Pgm 1, 2, 3 and on the 4th press, I’d be streaming again.

On my Marvels, the ambient sound was turned OFF in the program setup, but in these new Life aids, I still hear the ambient sound almost as good as with no streaming? But the TV also streams and so I’m literally hearing BOTH the TV speaker and my streamer at once, with the split-second delay to make it sound echoey.

It won’t be off on the software as the max is -10 dB. I’ve got the Marvel. It might of been enough tho to stop background noise. If Audi doesn’t change it ti -10 dB, it automatically sets at -6 dB.

I was thinking about the comment of a split second delay in TV sound and streaming and the issue it causes. It reminded me of something that may??? be a big help. If you have a smart TV, i recall there is usually a setting in the TV options that allows you to compensate for sound delay differences. This might solve the problem.

LOL! I actually don’t know what the Marvels are set to for streaming, but hey, even if was +40dB I’d NEVER hear the ambient sound.

Another great suggestion! We were doing that in our OLD location with a simple smart TV and my streamer. But since relocating to the NEW house, it’s a monster of automation. Crestron controls a Marantz that’s hooked up to the AppleTV speakers and my streamer. So there’s no way to control just the AppleTV on this system.

I’ll have my audi turn down the volume on the ambient sound in my Phonak Life’s streaming mode. That’ll take care of the problem like it did on my Marvels.
