UPDATE as of 21 Jan
I’ve spent the past 4 days trying out combinations and permutations of the 2 sets of Lumity Life aids to see if I can get additional hours of use. Tests run to-date:
WED: I wanted to find a “universal” version of Android 13 to put on my Samsung Flip-4 because Samsung has not yet released that version even tho it has come out in other countries and even here in the USA (DOH!)
- Hubs spent ALL day manually downloading Android 13 to my phone. It was 6pm, so not much of a test could be run for either OLD or NEW Life aids to see if it extended battery life.
- I still had both OLD and NEW Life aids paired + connected to my cell phone.
THU: I wanted to see if the installation of Android 13 on my cell phone extended battery life
- I still had both pairs of OLD and NEW Life aids paired + connected to my cell phone.
- I charged up my OLD Life aids in their original induction base, put them in, and they only lasted 4.5 hrs till they DIED before noon.
- So I put in the NEW Life aids which I’d charged up in their original base at 11:30am and they sailed through the day, showing 70% charge when I took them out at 10:30pm.
- CONCLUSION: It appears that Android 13 is indeed making a big difference in battery life.
FRI: I wanted to to see if it made a difference which charger I use for the aids.
- I removed the OLD Life aids from my cell phone’s completely, so only one pair of Life aids is now paired + connected.
- I started the day with my NEW Life aids that I’d charged up in the OLD Life’s charging base overnight Only the NEW Life aids were paired + connected to my cell phone.
- I put the OLD Life aids back in their original charger for 24 hrs.
- My NEW Life aids gave me 14 hrs of use by day’s end, and when I took the off, there was still 30% charge remaining, so this time I turned them OFF for the night and didn’t put them in a charger. I want to run them down completely to see how long they last.
- CONCLUSION: None can be made till tomorrow.
SAT: I wanted to see how long my NEW Life aids run, given that I now have Android 13 installed and just these aids paired + connected to my cell phone,
- I turned on my NEW Life aids and, still at 30% charged, I got another 3.5 hours of use before they died. Total time: 17.5 hours. As Yosemite Sam would yell: YEEEEEEHAAAAAAA! I don’t think I’d need any more hours unless I’m taking a 20-hr flight overseas. I’d just wear my battery-powered Marvels for that one.
- I checked my OLD Lumity Life aids that’d been in their original charger more than a day. LEFT aid is blinking orange, but after pairing + connecting to my phone, BT shows they are 100% charged. I highly doubt that, but will wear them till they run down.
- CONCLUSION: I’m guessing that my OLD pair of Lumity Life aids needs a firmware update, so I’ll be dropping these off next week. I’ll be curious to find out if my LEFT aid is a lemon or if a firmware update does the trick.
Stay tuned.
