I still have my heart with oticon but was forced to switched to Resound due to Cochlear Ltd partnership on streaming… I miss how Oticon sound I hope and brings any brand hearing streaming compatibility…

Is this the same as becoming an Oticonian?
No, I’m afraid the criteria for Oticonianship is at a higher bar.
One must have a minimum of 6 months as a Oticon patient.
The rules are clearly spelled out on Oticon’s Real More website.
Unfortunately when you try to google it you get the dreaded 404 error!

So I need to wait 6 months AND be patient?? That will be brutal!!
I thought you already welcomed me as an Oticonian though. Did the requirements recently change?

@prodigyplace:Don’t sweat it! You are covered by O.R.K. for those first 6 months until you’re eligible for permanent Oticonian status.
If you are challenged, just say: “ORK! I’m covered, mate!”
[Addendum: Nobody’s asked, but O.R.K. stands for Oticonian Refugee Kinship … so, there ya go!]

Your deference is duly noted Sir Spud!
So I need to wait 6 months AND be patient??
Correct , my son.
As the Voice of Wisdom* Pronounced these many years ago: "PPPPPP.
What, you might ask does that have to do with being patient?
Well, to begin with, it starts with a “P”!
Had you exercised the 6 P’s prior to participating in the OticonPortal, you could have saved yourself a Pile of Problems, eh?
Since The Spudster has Promoted you to a O.R.K. that will grant you access to the future Permanent Position of Oticonian!

I remember seeing the Vietnam War on the TV and wondering how we could kill a 1000 vietcong every day and they don’t run out of soidiers.

Changed to using DSE I believe it was.
sorry: remind me what that is?
Good chart. From reading other threads, a lot of ‘speech in noise’ and ‘directed speech’ programs seem to be less than helpful for many folks. to be honest I haven’t played around with these programs much, so I have no opinion. Intuitively, I’m in the "let the brain sort it out’ camp.
I was about to write, “my brain sorted out noise from speech when i had good hearing”, and realized…I’ve never had good hearing. My loss began and was cemented before I was a teen. However, I’m not complaining! My my voice recognition is excellent, for someone with my loss.
But, back to the point: there’s a lot of hope being put into for helping folks in difficult hearing situations. The chart above identifies these. It would be a grand thing if some new advances in technology helped in the ‘more complex’ side of the scale. We’ll see,

I think it’s Digital Speech Enhancement which when googling, is only on the Xceed.

@zebras with your Oticon do you find it try’s to narrow in on one voice if your with a group of people in a noisy environment or does it keep the sounds nice and crisp. So as you can make out things like the voices of who you’re with as well as what is going on around you?
I’m asking because my Phonaks cros aids I feel in a noisy environment it tries to focus in on one voice. Drowning out everything around me making everything sound to loud and muffled and wondering if I push for a trial of the Oticon cros aids at my appointment in a few weeks if the Oticon‘s gives a wider spectrum of what is going on around you as well as the voices of who your with. Because what I want is to be able to understand what is going on around me as well as the voices of who I’m with

I don’t believe it focuses on a voice but I might just not understand, how Oticon work.
I can hear 360 and hear a lot more sound.

Interesting just last year got Phonak Naida 70 on NHS, and compared to Resound have been much better overall, though these have the custom moulds with tubes so look worse not that bothered by, but deffo seem to work better than others with wires/domes, never really got on with.
The app though for Phonak is not so good, it takes much longer to react/connect when open or app or switch programs etc. Not able to lower volume fully when streaming and when on call the aids pick up to much background noise, I would rather hold phone up and use mic on that as did with resound.

@leerich2004 you must have the nhs Nadia p70 that they have start giving out because my cros aids are from 2015 and don’t connect to the app at all. I believe the old ones only had the ability to narrow in on one voice when you turn to face the person as they don’t have 360 i believe but in a noisy environment they are not great as even if i turn to face the person i can’t make out what is being said.
@zebras thank you will push to get a trail of the oticon to see how they work out

A wee tip @leerich2004, in the Phonak App, when it opens up, press the Device’s button, wait for it to connect, it should do this faster, then you revert back to the homepage:-) After this initial pressing, it should load super quick every time you open the App… Hopefully ![]()

@zebras thanks for this it must just be because they are old technology then. Because it seems unlike my nathos nova pr the auto m and cros II try to focus in on one voice making everything else unaudible in noisy environments and i have to turn towards them or move if i want to pick up what someone is saying clearly and it takes a lot out of me in a noisy place where nothing sounds clear. I would use my nathos nova pr for situtations like that more but it is not always enough in those situations when i have gotten use to using the cros over the last 3 years it makes it hard to go back to just one hearing aid all the time.
I love the nathos nova pr in less noisy places like round at someone’s house in the library, small shops.

Ask for UltraZoom to be turned to Real Ear Sound if it’s happening in noisy places. UltraZoom needs to be changed in the Speech in Noise program. That’ll solve the issue.
