@danka: Yes, dankallo, you’re right - MOREAL would be better than M-MORE REAL, but that is not, unfortunately, the case in reality.

@prodigyplace: What I find unreal is why they deemed it necessary to launch a new model when it boasts such meagre and marginal “improvements” as compared to our More devices.
How are you liking yours, BTW? And rechargeability?

I have not looked into Demant’s financials, but one reason companies push for rushed new releases & sometimes features is an attempt to please the venture (vulture) capitalists backing them. I was the customer of one vendor who received venture capital backing. They then complained that their release schedule was extremely rushed to release new stuff to please their financial backers.
Thank you for asking about me. I have made it through my first full day. I think the aids were down around 30%. I do not refer the terms but my aids are set to a level to just get used to them. I find some highs and sharp levels harsh but I suspect I need to get used to the . I have some occlusion with the double domes but I think overall they will work better than the tulip domes I had previously. In the past I found custom molds useful. I have the 100 receivers
Will I need to buy Oticon filters and domes? I have some stick type filters from my Rexton and thought receivers look pretty standardized.
I just thought of you and your SmartCharger lifetime. Do you keep it plugged in? They do not tell us what battery it contains. I know many modern batteries do not last well when kept fully charged. I have decided to charge my charger (That should weird…). And unplug when recharging the aids. I may sometimes charge them twice before recharging the charger. That will hopefully extend battery life. I know I’m some hybrid cars, sitting around is harder on the batteries than their normal usage of cycling from 20% to 80% charge. They batteries also do not like sitting at a full charge.
Again @SpudGunner thanks for asking, Jim

@prodigyplace: I use my genuine Oticon®️ brand SmartCharger the same way you do, for the same reason, Bruce.
No thanks are necessary for my enquiries - my interest is genuine, and I’ll help you out with your new aids as best I can. We Oticonians must exhibit solidarity at all times, be we Disposablytes or Rechargeabloons.

I had the iPhone 11 Pro Max. When the 12 came out, the upgrades were so subtle and incremental that I thought I’d wait to upgrade. 11 pro max to 12 pro max is like More to Real? I’ll ask my eBay seller friend about it.

And it only lasted 3 months? At that rate you will use 12 chargers during the 3 year warranty period. Likely fewer if you need to wait for stock.
How many aid charges do you usually perform before plugging in?
My audiologist ignored the instructions to charge the charger for 4 hours before trying to charge the aids.

@prodigyplace: The batteries didn’t fail. There was some issue with the induction charging mechanism.

@Volusiano: I’m hearing Wimmin Handling Stabilizer … is this correct ?
That’s why it’s not an incremental release but a major ground breaking advanced release, @SpudGunner! It’s the anchor feature, Jim!

By the way, I wonder what comes after the sudden sounds and wind/handling stabilizer, in the next generation after the Real? One thing I can think of is that when I was still working, while in meetings, some co-worker may lean over to me and whispers something to me while the meeting was going on. Same thing in a place where you need to be quiet, like at a library, or even in a movie theater while the movie is playing. Of course I struggled tremendously to understand the whispering, even with hearing aids on. But of course back then, hearing aids were still quite rudimentary compared to today’s standard.
At any rate, one of the new feature on my wish list for the next Oticon generation of aids would be to help me understand the whispering better. By the way, I wonder if the current Whisper aids can help with whispering or not already? If not, then the Whisper folks oughta work on giving that priority so that the brand can live up to its name.

Haha, it’s just inevitable to not think about that brand name when I was genuinely simply wishing for a whispering feature. I always wonder why they picked that name anyway. Whispering seems to be the antithesis of hard-of-hearing. So unless they can come up with something that lets hard-of-hearing folks understand the whispering, why choose that name?
Anyway, don’t mean to be off topic here. But I really hope that after the Oticon Real will be the Oticon HearAll. Or maybe the Oticon EavesDropper, or the Oticon BionicEars.

Here’s my initial thought (subject to change as more info becomes available): What a disappointment! I got my Oticon Opn at the end of 2017. I skipped upgrading to the OpnS. I got the More at the beginning of 2021. They were a little better than the Opn, but not worth the substantial cost to upgrade IMO.
Now I can get another insurance benefit this year. And the big whiz-bang feature of the Real is wind noise and sudden noise control?! These are not big issues for me. What I’d like to hear about is dramatically better speech in noise comprehension. I’ll bet that is the most important issue for most other members here too.
What about announcing a 50% improvement in speech in noise comprehension? Or a huge improvement in comprehension as a result of a much larger machine learning dataset informed by two more years of data collection? If Oticon has achieved a big improvement in comprehension with the Real why do their first videos not mention it? Either there is not much improvement or Oticon has a weird marketing strategy.
