I have had custom molds in the past, up until 4 years ago on my Resound KS6 was tge last time. I actually started my journey with aids.

The power domes keep walking out though. I see mention of the Oticon concha lock not fitting my 100 receivers. I may try some Rexton locks I have if they fit.

EDIT; the Rexton locks are too small for the large Oticon 100 receivers. I notice my audiologist did not even mention them, unlike past fittings.

IIRC, Oticon didn’t even offer the 100 receivers without an encased mold at first.

A smaller power done might not walk, but if it’s venting more sound may restrict the highs via more feedback and you might lose some richness in the lows. Another manufacturer’s dome, if it fits snugly on the receiver, might work instead. Is there a return period for the custom tips?

Yes, I call that the “leash”, but found that even with THAT in my ear cups, the dang receivers work their way out and the leash is soon looking like a LOOP.

I had tried the Slip Tips with my KS10s. Even with a generous vent, the occlusion was too much, particularly for singing and playing the French horn, where all I could hear is myself. However, I have found that I can get the rubbery double domes to seal properly with much less occlusion. Fortunately, they don’t back out. I don’t know if you could do with them if the probe unseals the fit.

“loop” can be corrected. Remember using scissors to make bows so much prettier? Putting the fabric over the blade of the scissor, thumb on top and pull the fabric through?

You can do that with the “leash” and straighten it out.

WhiteHat, I have not tried titanium - it’s the final frontier for me! And I’ve thought about going that route, too, precisely cuz I can’t fathom it making my ear canals itch…

That said, my dang ear canals swell UP and go DOWN throughout the day, so I’ve always had problems with the rock hard mold (flesh-colored plastic or even the firm silicone type). My left ear has a baggier canal, and the lil’ ol’ right one is stingy and small. I’ve even resorted to swapping on different sized silicone double-domes (S, M/L) to fit the episodes of swelling.

But even my audi is amazed I can hear as well as I do without TOTAL SEAL. I’m no lip reader, that’s for sure. But I can’t complain with the super comfort of these softer double-domes. :- :slightly_smiling_face:

The variability of canals does through a monkey-wrench in it, huh? Sorry. Some folks just can’t catch a break.

I was going to add that they have an option when ordering the titanium c-shells to make the surface rougher to enhance retention.

I guess I’d look pretty silly with my finger stuck in my ear while I watch TV and eat popcorn! I’ve got the Signiia Charge and Go 7AX and just loving them. I told my earing aid fitter (she’s great) that the wire feels a little tight (I’m at the 3 level} and seems to take more of a straighter bath down to the canal. Most folks seem to have more bends to match their ear. She made some adjustments but I’m still thinking going to have her try the 4 size and take a slightly different path. Since I’m a newbie to , I’m trying not to act too stupid! Any thoughts on wires and bends as far as dome movement?

@1Bluejay: I have very good luck softening foot corns by soaking them in a pan of water with a cup of MALT VINEGAR in it!

(Gives the fish and chips a nice cheesy “je ne sais quoi”, too!)
