CIC Walk Outs?

I’ve had my first pair of hearing aids (KS7s) from Costco since 2017 and am looking to upgrade to something with better tech than my current . Lately the KS7s seem to walk themselves out of the ear canal quite frequently. I understand that it’s my jaw motion that more than like likely causes this (maybe I talk too much?).

If I go to something like a model, will these walk themselves out as well. I’m concerned that I could possibly lose them if this were the case.

If I understand to be “completely” in the canal, you may have a hope in he!! of them staying put … but honestly, I’ve never had the pleasure of trying such a model myself.

I think CICs have that little pull-tug on them to get them out at day’s end? I’d be nervous about that itty bitty littly dohicky just snapping right off.

I wore them for several years and only had that happen once. They had it repaired and no more issues. That was before existed though.

Adding a canal lock to can help with retention. I used to add them after the fact for patients but I don’t think many providers have the knowledge or equipment to add them after the fact today. It would usually involve a recase by the manufacturer if done today.

It really depends on the shape of your ear canal, the fit of the aid/mold, what kind of retention aids are used and even the orientation of the mold in the ear. I had custom molds made with canal locks and they migrated until I changed the orientation by 90 degrees.
